The commune of Putanges-le-Lac, located in the heart of Suisse Normande, offers artists an exceptional source of inspiration. The meanders of the Orne river, the green hills, the old stone houses, the bridges, and the mills form a romantic landscape that has always attracted painters. The Journée des Peintres celebrates this tradition by inviting established and amateur artists to set up their easels outdoors and immortalize the beauty of the place.

An Open-Air Painting Competition

The concept is simple and appealing: registered artists have several hours to create an original outdoor work, themed around the local landscape or heritage. All techniques are accepted: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil drawing, or ink. Participants are free to choose their subject and location within the area defined by the organizers.

At the end of the day, all works are gathered and exhibited to the public in a central location. A jury composed of professionals and discerning amateurs examines the creations and awards prizes and distinctions to the most remarkable works.

An Event Open to All

The Journée des Peintres is open to all skill levels, from the weekend painter to the seasoned professional. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, fostering exchanges between artists and encounters with the public. Visitors can wander freely between the easels, observe the artists at work, and admire the progress of the artworks throughout the day.

Additional activities may accompany the day: introductory painting workshops for children, demonstrations of artistic techniques, and temporary exhibitions. Admission is free for visitors.
