About Kestu Bouine

Kestu Bouine ? is a popular agri-cultural festival organized every spring in Sud-Sarthe, between Marçon and Chahaignes. Driven by the association Mnambule since 2016, this festive and committed day combines concerts, a local producers' market, an association village, and activities for all ages. The event celebrates the links between culture and agriculture, in a friendly and participatory spirit that makes it a must-attend event in the local life of Sarthe.

Kestu Bouine ?: the popular festival that cultivates conviviality

Since 2016, the Kestu Bouine ? festival has enlivened the towns of Marçon and Chahaignes in southern Sarthe every spring. Created by the association Mnambule, founded in 2010 and based in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, this unique event defines itself as a popular agri-cultural festival, a concept that perfectly reflects its philosophy: to weave links between the agricultural world, culture, and the inhabitants of the region.

A rich and eclectic program

Each edition of Kestu Bouine ? offers a dense and varied program:

  • Concerts: several bands playing contemporary music, world music, French chanson, and festive music perform outdoors
  • Producers' market: local producers and artisans showcase their skills and products from the Sarthe region
  • Association village: local associations set up information and awareness stands
  • Activities for young audiences: workshops, games, and shows for children and families

A commitment to the territory

Kestu Bouine ? is not just a festival: it is an act of faith in the vitality of rural areas. The association Mnambule advocates for accessible, popular culture rooted in its territory. Despite setbacks – the 2024 edition, disrupted by rain, resulted in a significant deficit – the team of volunteers continues to carry this project with passion and determination.

Sud-Sarthe, a land of character

Between the valleys of the Loir and the Braye, the towns of Marçon and Chahaignes offer a green and preserved setting, typical of the Sarthe countryside. The region is renowned for its Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir wines, its rolling landscapes, and its authentic rural heritage. It is in this bucolic setting that Kestu Bouine ? takes on its full meaning, celebrating the riches of a region too often overlooked.

Kestu Bouine — edition 2026

The 9th edition of Kestu Bouine? was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Marçon (72), organized by the Mnambule association. A festive and agri-cultural day in the heart of Sud-Sarthe, with a free afternoon (market, street art, activities for young audiences on the Church Square) and an evening of concerts at the communal hall.

Kestu Bouine? #9 — May 2, 2026 edition in Marçon

The 9th edition of Kestu Bouine? was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Marçon (Sarthe), from 2 PM to 2 AM. Organized by the Mnambule association, based in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, this popular agri-cultural festival brought together the Church Square (free access in the afternoon) and the communal hall (evening concerts).

A free access afternoon at the Church Square

From 2 PM to 6 PM, the village center came alive around a market of local producers and artisans (artisanal pasta, cheeses, jewelry, bakery) and a street art program: Ze Machine (Cie du Prizme, pop-theatrical performance around household appliances), Le Rétroviseur (Cie Les Joizos, musical circus) and Roland Bernard et le Ukuloops Band (one-man orchestra). Children's area with face painting, pottery, and pop-up activities.

An evening of concerts at the communal hall

From 5 PM, the communal hall hosted seven groups with varied styles: Praktika (afro techno), La Ciguë (neo-traditional dance), Marave (noise), The Playmatics (pop punk), Irmas Social Club (afro samba, 100% female batucada), The Attic (blues rock) and a new appearance by Ze Machine. The evening also featured La Charcuterie Musicale, the blind-test that has become the festival's trademark.

A festival rooted in its territory

Homemade specialties like «Bouine» (fresh goat cheese, brandy, garlic) or «Trompe-Goule» (rillettes, white wine, vegetables), refreshment stand and canteen with short supply chains: Kestu Bouine? continues to defend a popular culture rooted in Sud-Sarthe, between the Loir and Braye valleys.
