About Bullecyclette

La Bullecyclette is a retro and Champenois escape on vintage bicycles in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Created in 2024, this 22 km ride starting from Avize crosses the villages of Oger, Vertus, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, punctuated by four stops with swing music and champagne. Participants dress up in the spirit of the 1950s-60s for a festive day combining heritage, gastronomy, and eco-responsibility.

A retro escape in the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs

La Bullecyclette is a unique oenotourism experience, created in 2024, offering a vintage bike ride through the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs. Starting from Château Desbordes in Avize, participants cover approximately 20 kilometers on vintage bicycles (models prior to 1980), passing through the most beautiful wine-growing villages of Champagne.

Four gourmet and musical stops

The route is punctuated by four stops where cyclists are greeted with swing music and champagne tastings. Throughout the day, participants enjoy a country meal served in stages: aperitif, main course, dessert, and snack, accompanied by several glasses of champagne (or a non-alcoholic alternative), all in a festive and retro atmosphere.

The 1950s spirit

One of the charms of La Bullecyclette lies in the retro dress code. Participants are invited to dress up in the spirit of the 1950s-60s: polka dot dresses, berets, plaid shirts, suspenders... This vintage touch gives the event a unique atmosphere, combining nostalgia and conviviality.

The villages of the Côte des Blancs

The approximately 20 km route connects several emblematic villages of the Champagne vineyard:

  • Avize: Starting and finishing point, Grand Cru renowned for its Blancs de Blancs
  • Cramant: Historic Grand Cru of the Blancs de Blancs of the Côte des Blancs
  • Grauves: Wine-growing village in the heart of the hillsides
  • Gionges: Rural stop between vineyards and Champagne landscapes
  • Oger: Grand Cru wine-growing village

The final Guinguette

The day ends with a big Guinguette at gymnase Cattani in Avize, open to everyone, even those who haven't cycled. Free retro concerts, food trucks, local drinks (champagnes, ciders, craft beers), and creator and artisan stalls extend the celebration in the spirit of 1950s-60s village dances. An inclusive moment of sharing that brings together cyclists and local residents.

Eco-responsibility and inclusion

La Bullecyclette is an event committed to an eco-responsible and inclusive approach. The choice of cycling as a means of transport, the promotion of short supply chains and local products, support for second-hand items, and the welcoming of people with disabilities demonstrate the values upheld by the organizing team, composed of a passionate young team and about forty volunteers.
