About La Charrette aux Merveilles

La Charrette aux Merveilles is a festival of words, stories and tales that unfolds every autumn in the Pays de Morlaix, in northern Finistère. Created in 2003, this festival, driven by a collective of local cultural actors coordinated by the Ti an Oll community center in Plourin-lès-Morlaix, the Théâtre de la Corniche in Morlaix, and numerous institutional partners, offers more than twenty shows, storytelling walks, storytelling meals, workshops, and events around the performing arts each year. La Charrette aux Merveilles is aimed at all audiences, from the youngest (from 4 years old) to adults, and takes place in a wide variety of venues across the municipalities of the Morlaix region: performance halls, media libraries, schools, community centers, and public spaces. With over twenty editions under its belt, this festival has established itself as a must-attend event on the storytelling scene in Brittany, combining oral tradition, contemporary creation, and a strong territorial connection.

La Charrette aux Merveilles: Storytelling at the Heart of the Pays de Morlaix

La Charrette aux Merveilles is a festival of words, stories, and tales that irrigates the Pays de Morlaix in Finistère Nord every autumn. Since 2003, this traveling festival has celebrated the performing arts in all their forms, offering a rich and diverse program accessible to all ages and audiences.

A Collective of Cultural Actors Dedicated to Storytelling

La Charrette aux Merveilles is supported by a collective of cultural and social organizations from the Pays de Morlaix. The Ti an Oll community center in Plourin-lès-Morlaix coordinates the festival, in partnership with the Théâtre de la Corniche in Morlaix, the municipalities of Plougonven and Plouézoc'h, the media libraries of the Penn da Benn network of Morlaix Communauté, youth animation centers, the Ecomusée des Monts d'Arrée, and many other local structures.

Over Twenty Shows Over Three Weeks

Each edition offers about twenty shows and events spread over approximately three weeks, from mid-October to the end of October. The program mixes storytelling performances for adults and children (from 4 years old), storytelling walks in nature, convivial storytelling meals, participatory workshops, and meet-and-greets with artists. Invited storytellers, from all over France and sometimes beyond, explore a wide narrative range: traditional Breton tales, mythological stories, travel tales, contemporary creations, and poetic performances.

A Traveling Festival Rooted in the Territory

One of the unique features of La Charrette aux Merveilles is its traveling format, which takes place in numerous venues across the municipalities of the Pays de Morlaix. Performance halls, media libraries, community centers, schools, and public spaces host the artists, bringing storytelling closer to the residents. The Ti an Oll community center in Plourin-lès-Morlaix, located at 1 rue des Genêts, is the historical and logistical heart of the festival.

Talented Artists Through the Editions

Over its more than twenty editions, La Charrette aux Merveilles has hosted many renowned storytellers. The 2025 edition notably featured Marius Ponnelle, Gigi Bigot, Anthony Messager, Pascal Rivoalen, Faleta, Nahia Etchegaray, Mayeul Loisel, Céline Gumuchian, Fabrice Le Normand, Vassili Ollivro, and Yann Foury, among other talented artists.

A Must-Attend Event for Storytelling in Brittany

With over twenty editions, La Charrette aux Merveilles has established itself as one of the major storytelling festivals in Brittany. Its strong territorial connection, demanding yet accessible programming, and commitment to the performing arts make it a precious cultural event for the Pays de Morlaix and the entire region.
