The emblem of Sampigny in the spotlight
In Sampigny, the frog is much more than a simple amphibian: it is the emblem of the village. Each year, the association La Vaillante organizes La Grenouillade, a large popular festival that celebrates this totemic animal through a weekend of lively and friendly festivities in the streets of the town.
A weekend of celebration in the village streets
La Grenouillade unfolds over two full days, Saturday and Sunday, transforming the streets of Sampigny into a vast festive space. From the morning, the activities follow one another and continue until the evening, offering a dense and varied program for all ages.
Activities and shows
The Grenouillade program is rich and diverse: semi-nocturnal flea market on Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm, live concerts and cabaret-revue shows in the evening, float parade through the village streets, brass bands and street musicians, stunt shows and temporary tattoos. Children are not left out with dedicated activities throughout the weekend.
Rural heritage and old tractors
On Sunday, an exhibition of old tractors recalls the agricultural past of the village and the Meuse valley. These machines from another era, carefully restored by enthusiasts, attract lovers of vintage mechanics and awaken the nostalgia of the older generation.
Tasting of frog legs
Of course, no Grenouillade would be complete without the tasting of frog legs, an essential specialty of the event. Volunteers from the La Vaillante association prepare and serve this traditional dish, perpetuating a culinary tradition dear to the inhabitants of Sampigny.
A final fireworks display
The festival concludes with a fireworks display that illuminates the sky of Sampigny, offering a grand finale to this festive weekend. This fireworks display is the highlight of the Grenouillade, bringing all participants together one last time in a moment of shared magic.
The associative spirit of La Vaillante
The association La Vaillante has been carrying La Grenouillade for many years with passion and determination. Mobilizing dozens of volunteers, it ensures the organization, catering, and entertainment of this popular event which is the pride of the Sampigny residents and resonates far beyond the village limits.
