Medieval weekend in the heart of Berry
La Médiévale de Tendu is a medieval festival organized every summer by the associations of the town of Tendu, in partnership with the town hall, in the department of Indre. This festive event offers an artisanal market, a medieval camp recreated by the association Les Dragonnes, workshops and demonstrations of medieval weapons, medicinal plants and ancient games, fire-eaters and sword fighting shows, a medieval banquet on Saturday evening followed by a concert and fireworks, and a bird of prey show on Sunday.
The Médiévale de Tendu was born from the passion of the inhabitants of this small village in Indre for the Middle Ages. Organized by the associations of the town of Tendu in partnership with the town hall, this medieval festival brings together enthusiasts of historical reenactment and families every summer for a festive weekend. The event takes place at the municipal stadium, route de Prunget, transformed for the occasion into a true medieval camp.
The association Les Dragonnes, created in 2016 under the 1901 law, is composed of enthusiasts who wish to share their knowledge of the medieval world through the recreation and animation of a central medieval camp. Specializing in the High Middle Ages, the association sets up its camp at the heart of the festival and offers demonstrations of medieval daily life, workshops on weapons and ancient techniques.
La Médiévale de Tendu offers a varied program over two days. The artisanal market brings together artisans and creators inspired by the Middle Ages. The recreated medieval camp allows visitors to discover medieval weaponry, medicinal plants, and period board games through workshops and demonstrations. Fire-eaters and sword fights liven up both days. The medieval taverns offer food and drinks on site throughout the weekend.
Saturday evening is the highlight of La Médiévale de Tendu. A medieval banquet at 7 p.m., by reservation, brings guests together for a hearty meal in the spirit of medieval feasts. The evening continues with a concert and fireworks that beautifully conclude the first day. On Sunday afternoon, a bird of prey show fascinates young and old with free-flight demonstrations of falcons, buzzards, and owls, scheduled at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
2026 edition of La Médiévale de Tendu expected in August 2026. Exact dates to be confirmed. The program should include the main attractions: medieval camp, artisanal market, banquet, bird of prey show, and fireworks.
