Landes Aquarelle Festival

A watercolor biennial in the Landes

According to the town of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, the purpose of the Landes Aquarelle association is "to hold a watercolor biennial in the Pays Morcenais community of communes, featuring artists of national and international renown." The festival is therefore held every two years.

• 3rd edition — September 16–24, 2023, guests of honor Isabelle Estrade and David Chauvin
• 4th edition — September 27 – October 5, 2025, guests of honor Anne Hamelin and Jym Palfroix, 46 watercolorists

What to expect

A week of exhibitions, daily demonstrations, and workshops led by master watercolorists. In 2025, works were displayed at the Salle du Maroc, Salle Jean-Jaurès, the Arjuzanx site house, the media library, and the tourist office. The Morcenx cinema hosted filmed demonstrations and screenings, including the film "L'Énigme Velasquez." A raffle offered 30 original watercolors donated by the artists.

They were joined by bronze sculptor Hamado Zoundi.

2026: Workshops without the festival

The association remains active between biennials. In 2026, it is organizing a two-day workshop with Laurie Bréda on March 28–29 in Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, followed by a workshop with Bénédicte Stef-Frisbey on October 10–11 themed "Fondus et scintillements" (Blends and Shimmers), priced at €160 for the two days.
