Printemps des Poètes en Isère, organized under the name Printemps des Poète.sses, is a traveling festival that celebrates contemporary poetry in the Isère department every year. As part of the national Printemps des Poètes, this local event offers a rich and interdisciplinary program that spreads across several towns in the Isère region for a week in March.
The festival is organized by the AéMD (Association des étudiants du Master Diffusion de la culture) of the Université Grenoble Alpes. This student initiative gives the festival a special creative energy and a spirit of discovery. Master's students conceive and produce the entire program, making this event a true laboratory for cultural mediation around poetry.
The festival unfolds in a variety of locations across Isère: the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus (EVE, university libraries), bookstores like Les Modernes in Grenoble, the Musée Hébert in La Tronche, the Le Club cinema, the Bar Radis, La Bifurk, and even la grange à Gaby in the village of Engins, at the gates of Vercors. This itinerant nature allows it to reach diverse audiences and make poetry resonate in unexpected spaces.
The Printemps des Poète.sses program combines various artistic forms around poetry: Poétik Electro evenings blending poetry and electronic music, convivial aperitif-readings with poetic collectives, stage creations by students, film screenings, piano-voice concerts, writing workshops, and exhibitions of visual and literary arts. The festival invites poets, artists, and musicians to share their universes with the public in a warm and accessible atmosphere.
Each edition is accompanied by exhibitions showcasing visual and literary works produced during mediation workshops with school groups and residents of nursing homes. These creations, exhibited at the Bibliothèque universitaire Droit et Lettres, demonstrate the festival's commitment to making poetry accessible to all ages and all audiences.
The Isère festival is part of the dynamic of the Printemps des Poètes, a national event founded in 1999 by Jack Lang and Emmanuel Hoog. Each year, a unifying theme guides the program. In 2026, the national theme is "Liberty. Living Force, Deployed", with actress Isabelle Adjani as its patron. The local festival explores this theme through original artistic proposals rooted in the Isère region.
