About Les Azimutés d'Uzès
Les Azimutés d'Uzès is a photography festival organized in Uzès, in the Gard department in Occitanie. Created in 2015 by the eponymous association, the festival held ten annual editions until 2024 before switching to a biennial format in 2025 to offer a more ambitious program. 2026 is a transition year with no festival edition: the next biennial is scheduled for 2027. In 2026, the association is deploying the heritage project « Autrefois, Uzès », labeled Bicentenary of Photography by the Ministry of Culture.
A photo festival that became biennial
Les Azimutés d'Uzès is a photography event in Uzès, in the Gard department, Occitanie. Created in 2015 by a collegial 1901 law association, the festival held ten annual editions between 2015 and 2024, attracting several thousand visitors each year around exhibitions, meetings with photographers, and a free-access route in the historic center of Uzès.
Following the 2023 edition, the association chose a new rhythm: the festival becomes biennial starting in 2025 to offer a more immersive and ambitious experience. The 10th edition, the first in biennial format, was held in May 2025 on the theme « Témoin de son temps, passeur de mémoire » with eighteen invited photographers.
2026: transition year around « Autrefois, Uzès »
There is no edition of the Azimutés photo festival in 2026. The next biennial, the 11th edition, is scheduled for 2027. During this transition year, the association is carrying out a specific heritage project titled « Autrefois, Uzès », labeled by the Ministry of Culture as part of the Bicentenary of Photography (September 1st, 2026 – September 30th, 2027).
This 2026 project has two components: an exhibition at the Uzès intercommunal media library from September 4th to 26th, 2026, presenting old photographs of Uzès (1890-1935) from the city's heritage collection (daily life, shops, trades, festivals, transport, school and sports life); and a photography competition « Uzès Insolite » open to everyone, amateurs and professionals alike, with applications due from May 4th to June 19th, 2026, and an exhibition of selected photographs on September 19th and 20th, 2026, in the courtyard of Uzès town hall, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.
An event rooted in the territory
The Azimutés photo festival takes advantage of the heritage setting of Uzès, the first city in the kingdom of France to bear the title of duchy, and unfolds in the historic center of the ducal city. The association promotes both established photographers and more emerging talents, making the festival a unifying event for the local public and for photography enthusiasts from Occitanie.

The association « Les Azimutés d'Uzès » is a collegial 1901 law association, declared under RNA number W302011114 and identified by SIRET 811 970 334 00025. It relies on a core of volunteers and the partnership of the City of Uzès, the tourist office, and the community of communes of Pays d'Uzès.

Transition Year: the « Autrefois, Uzès » project
During this year 2026, the association remains active around a specific heritage project titled « Autrefois, Uzès », labelled Bicentenaire de la Photographie by the Ministère de la Culture (September 1st, 2026 – September 30th, 2027). This project does not replace the festival but allows for maintaining an appointment with the Uzès public and photography enthusiasts during the off-year.
Part 1 — Heritage Exhibition
From September 4th to 26th, 2026, at the Uzès intercommunal media library: exhibition of old photographs of Uzès (circa 1890-1935) from the city's heritage collection. It features scenes of daily life, cafes and shops of the era, sports activities, disappeared means of transport, festivities, work scenes, and school life. Free admission.
Part 2 — « Uzès Insolite » Photographic Competition
Competition open to all, amateurs and confirmed photographers. Submission of applications from May 4th to June 19th, 2026 at midnight. The selected photographs will be exhibited on September 19th and 20th, 2026 in the courtyard of the Uzès town hall, on the occasion of the Journées européennes du patrimoine 2026. Free admission.
