A festival created by Andre Manoukian
Les Baux Pianos was born in 2023 from the desire of pianist, composer, and media personality Andre Manoukian to create a music festival in one of the most beautiful villages in France. Located in Baux-de-Provence, a perched village in the Alpilles classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, the festival takes advantage of the exceptional setting of this mineral and luminous site to offer open-air concerts of rare beauty.
The Carrieres des Lumieres, a unique musical setting
The festival takes over the Carrieres des Lumieres, a former limestone quarry that has become a world-renowned immersive art venue. In this cathedral-like space with white stone walls several tens of meters high, concerts acquire an exceptional sonic and visual dimension. The light projections and the sound naturally amplified by the rock create a unique sensory experience, at the crossroads of music and contemporary art.
Jazz, world music, and pop
The Les Baux Pianos program, designed by Andre Manoukian himself, blends jazz, world music, pop, and chanson, with a preference for artists who transcend musical boundaries. Among the invited artists are remarkable voices such as Awa Ly, Robin McKelle, the group Nomades, and Rosemary Standley, alongside Andre Manoukian himself on the piano. The festival takes place over two to three evenings at the end of June, in an atmosphere that is both intimate and festive.
An exceptional village
Baux-de-Provence offers an incomparable setting for a music festival: medieval streets, panoramas of the Alpilles and Provence, remarkable architectural heritage, and unique light that has inspired the greatest painters. The festival is part of a rich summer cultural offering, alongside the immersive exhibitions of the Carrieres des Lumieres, making Baux-de-Provence a must-visit cultural destination for the Provençal summer.
