Les Casetas de Pau: The Fair in the Heart of the City

The Casetas de Pau is a festive and popular event that transforms the Place Clemenceau, right in the heart of Pau, into a festival village for several days in May. Organized by the Automobile Club Basco-Béarnais, this event is traditionally associated with the Pau Grand Prix and livens up the period between the two weekends of car races.

A Village of Stalls

The concept of casetas is inspired by the festive traditions of the Southwest and the Basque Country. Several casetas – small ephemeral bars-restaurants – are set up on Place Clemenceau, each offering its specialties: tapas, pintxos, local Béarnais products, and regional drinks. The friendly and festive atmosphere invites tasting and sharing.

Music and Free Concerts

Every evening, Place Clemenceau becomes an open-air music stage. Free concerts liven up the evenings with a varied program mixing current music, variety, Latin, and festive music. After dark, the square becomes a real dance floor where all generations gather until midnight.

A Free and Friendly Event

Les Casetas de Pau is completely free and open to all. The event is open during the day from 10 am and continues into the evening, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 1 am. It is a special moment in Pau's life, a space for conviviality where locals and visitors gather in a shared festive atmosphere.

A New Evolving Concept

The event has undergone several evolutions over the years, adapting to new trends and public expectations. Under the motto “New partners, New concept, New date”, Les Casetas de Pau continue to reinvent themselves while retaining their festive and friendly spirit.
