The great popular festival celebrating the Chartreuse trilogy: the massif, the monks, the liqueur
Les Fêtes de la Chartreuse is an annual popular festival organized every May around the symbolic date of May 16th, in the towns of Voiron, Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, and Entre-Deux-Guiers. Created in 2016, they celebrate the "Chartreuse trilogy": the mountain massif, the Carthusian Order, and the famous Chartreuse liqueur, made from 130 plants. For several days, conferences, visits to the Chartreuse Cellars, a traditional parade, a large popular banquet with 3,500 meals, and a pyrotechnic show bring together thousands of visitors.
The Fêtes de la Chartreuse celebrate every year around May 16th the "Chartreuse trilogy": the Chartreuse massif, a vast protected natural area between Grenoble, Chambéry, and Voiron; the Carthusian Order, founded in 1084 by Saint Bruno in the massif; and the Chartreuse liqueur, an elixir with 130 plants produced by the Carthusian monks since the 18th century.
