Medieval festival at the castle of the Dukes of Brittany in Sarzeau
Every May, the Domaine de Suscinio in Sarzeau opens its doors for a journey back in time with Les Médiévales de Suscinio. This 13th-century castle, a former hunting lodge of the Dukes of Brittany, provides a majestic and authentic setting for this historical festival.
For two days, the castle and its grounds host a program rich in entertainment and shows:
The Château de Suscinio, owned by the department of Morbihan and managed by Kléber Rossillon, is one of Brittany's most visited monuments. Its imposing ramparts, moats, chapel, and restored halls offer a spectacular backdrop for medieval events. Castle visits (self-guided or with audio guide) are included in the Médiévales entrance ticket.
The Domaine de Suscinio is surrounded by a protected natural area: marshes, dunes, and coastal forest form an exceptional landscape between the Golfe du Morbihan and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can extend their discovery with a walk along the estate's trails.
The Suscinio Medieval Festival returns on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the Domaine de Suscinio in Sarzeau, in the Gulf of Morbihan. For this 2026 edition, the castle of the Dukes of Brittany celebrates the arrival of Anne of Brittany in Suscinio at the end of the 15th century: historical encampments, equestrian jousts, a medieval market, artisans, period music and dances transport visitors to the heart of the Middle Ages.
On the weekend of May 23 and 24, 2026, the Domaine de Suscinio in Sarzeau plunges into the late 15th century to celebrate the arrival of Anne of Brittany at the Dukes' castle. Two days of continuous entertainment from 10 AM to 7 PM, within and around the fortified castle surrounded by its moats.
A medieval market brings together art artisan stalls and merchants. Two 100% medieval catering points operate all day: Le Snack Barbalète and L'Échoppe du Griffon noir.
The Medieval Festival entrance ticket includes free access to the visit of Suscinio Castle (audioguide available). Visitors can also extend their discovery along the domain's paths, between marshes, dunes, and coastal forest.
Visitors arriving in medieval costume receive a -10% discount on the entrance ticket.
