Les MilleHaches 2026: Sport Lumberjacking in Neuvic
The first edition of Les MilleHaches took place on the weekend of May 1st, 2026, at the Champ de Foire in Neuvic, Haute-Corrèze. Conceived by the local club Les Cogneurs du Plateau de Millevaches, this unprecedented competition brought together about thirty lumberjacks and lumberjills for spectacular "Intervilles" style events: log racing with a chainsaw in hand, climbing trunks to cut off the end, and other challenges combining strength, technique, and skill.
The event was part of a full weekend dedicated to sport lumberjacking. On May 1st, Les MilleHaches event was associated with an official season competition bringing together the best French athletes in the discipline, including several French champions. The following day offered an open competition day, extending this event dedicated to wood sports.
Around the events, the public enjoyed numerous activities: fishing rooster competition, a fair dedicated to wood trades, a street market in the town center, and catering on site. In total, this sport lumberjacking weekend attracted approximately 10,000 people to Neuvic, confirming the growing enthusiasm for this discipline on the Plateau de Millevaches.
