Performing arts festival in a rural setting
Each year at the beginning of June, the village of Brinon-sur-Beuvron, a commune of less than 200 inhabitants located 20 km from Clamecy in the Nièvre region, transforms into a unique performing arts venue. The festival Les Petites Rêveries has been held here for over twenty years, driven by the belief that culture should reach out to people rather than the other way around.
The festival is based on an ingenious dual format:
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, about fifteen short performances (maximum 30 minutes) are presented in intimate and unexpected locations within the village: private gardens, the church, the school, barns, washhouses, farmyards. Each performance is given three times in the afternoon, totaling around forty sessions. The audience wanders freely through the village, discovering a circus act, a play, a singer, or a puppeteer around a corner or through a doorway.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, a major show is presented under a tent that can accommodate up to 500 spectators. These evening shows are ticketed and require advance booking.
Les Petites Rêveries offers a diverse, original, and high-quality program: circus, theater, song, humor, dance, puppetry, beat-box, readings, storytelling... Each edition is an invitation to discovery and wonder, in a spirit of friendliness, humanity, and good cheer.
Les Petites Rêveries is the work of a remarkable community of about 160 volunteers who, each year, transform their village into a performance space. The 22nd edition in 2024 attracted over 12,000 entries despite unfavorable weather, demonstrating the audience's loyalty and the quality of the programming.
Les Petites Rêveries return from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026 in Brinon-sur-Beuvron (Nièvre), for three days of live performance in a rural setting. On the program: about fifteen free short forms (theater, circus, music, puppets, dance) performed three times in the afternoon throughout the village, and three major forms in the evening under a 500-seat big top — including 1978 (Famille Goldini, Friday), Nos courses folles (Les Fouteurs de Joie, Saturday) and France Fiction (Cie Les unes et les autres, Sunday).
From Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, the village of Brinon-sur-Beuvron will once again transform into an open-air performance venue. For three days, over 160 volunteers will welcome the public into the gardens, barns, washhouses, courtyards, and market halls of the village for about fifteen free short performances and three evening shows under a big top.
About fifteen 20 to 30-minute shows, performed three times each afternoon (approximately 45 performances over the weekend), in intimate locations throughout the village, which will be closed to traffic. On the program: circus (Paul & Max by Cie Eliane, juggling and piano), world music (Ito le jardinier des sons with balafon and charango, You Orkestra by La Famille Juresic, Petits Moteurs by Nicolas Naudet and Benjamin Flament), absurd theater (Déclassé·e·s by f.o.u.i.c.), puppet poetry (Joséphine by Cie La Salamandre), fairground philosophy by Alain Guyard, close-up magic with Antonin (Close-up), visual comedy (1001 Vaches by Cie Tyrnanog), musical narrative (Yolda! by Cie Ambraluna), gypsy dance (Voyage à 2 by Cie Wao), solo performance by Loïc Thomas (J'aurais voulu), musical comedy by Les Michels and children's rides by Cie Tête à plumes.
Three evenings under the large big top set up in the heart of the village: 1978 by Famille Goldini on Friday (theater, music, and acrobatics around Milton Friedman, ages 12+), Nos courses folles by Les Fouteurs de Joie on Saturday (song show for all audiences) and France Fiction by Cie Les unes et les autres on Sunday (punk reinterpretation of May '68, ages 12+).
On Saturday evening, make way for La Nièvre du samedi soir!, a big free ball under the market hall with Mademoiselle Charby on the turntables, from 10 PM to 3 AM. On Sunday at 11 AM, l'Onde Chœur & Orchestre (2025 creation by Goran Juresic, over 25 amateur singers and musicians) offers a musical journey in 8 languages under the market hall, followed by a complimentary aperitif.
Bar and catering on site all weekend (pizza and burger food trucks, caterer Saveur & des Lys from Brinon). Special Saturday evening meal by reservation. The village is closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday afternoons to facilitate walking between performances.
Short forms — approximately 14 shows performed 3 times in the afternoon (between 2:15 PM and 6:10 PM) in the gardens, courtyards, barns, washhouse, and schoolyard of the village. All free.
Afternoon — Repeat of the full Saturday short forms program, same times, same locations. All free.
