Free street performance festival in the Vire bocage since 1991
Created in 1991, the Les Virevoltés festival has become over thirty years the unmissable summer event of Vire Normandie and its bocage. Every early July, for about ten days, the streets, squares, and public spaces of the town transform into open stages to host free street performances.
Since its first edition, Les Virevoltés has hosted over 800 companies and artistic groups, introducing audiences to a diversity of styles and disciplines: street arts, contemporary circus, street theater, music, dance, puppetry, and performances. The festival showcases both emerging artists and established national and international companies.
The founding principle of Les Virevoltés is free access: all performances are freely accessible, without ticketing or reservation. This philosophy, supported by a team of passionate volunteers, makes the festival a popular and family-friendly event, open to all audiences. The association organizing the festival continues its activities throughout the year, with cultural initiatives in the Vire bocage.
Les Virevoltés is not limited to the town of Vire: the festival also takes over the surrounding bocage communes, transforming villages and hamlets into ephemeral performance venues. This itinerant dimension is the festival's uniqueness and charm, animating an entire rural territory during the summer.
The 35th edition of Les Virevoltés takes place from June 30 to July 9, 2026, in Vire Normandie and the Vire bocage. For ten days, the festival offers free street shows, circus, music, and dance in the city's streets, squares, and courtyards. The program for this 2026 edition includes: 18 companies, 23 performances, and 11 venues.

This 2026 edition brings together 18 companies, 23 performances, 10 days of festival, and 11 venues. True to its founding principle, the festival remains entirely free: all shows are freely accessible, without ticketing or reservation. Some evenings also offer a catering and convivial space.
The detailed day-by-day program is published on the association's official website: www.lesvirevoltes.org.
