The festival that sparkles with the sound of brass, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees
The Limoux Brass Festival is a festival dedicated to brass instruments held annually around the May 1st weekend in Limoux, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. Created in 2009, it brings together orchestras, big bands, and brass bands from France and beyond for four days of musical eclecticism. From indoor concerts to the legendary Nuits des Fanfares in the streets of Limoux, the festival contributes to the influence of French excellence in brass music in Europe and internationally.
The Limoux Brass Festival was born in 2009 from the passion of a group of musicians and brass enthusiasts. Since its creation, this festival has established itself as one of the major brass music events in France and Europe. Exclusively dedicated to brass instruments — trumpets, trombones, tubas, horns, euphoniums — the festival explores all facets of this musical universe: baroque, classical, jazz, funk, salsa, world music, and brass bands. Located in Limoux, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, the festival benefits from an exceptional setting.
The Limoux Brass Festival's program combines international headliners and discoveries. The 2026 edition, the 18th of its name, welcomes exceptional artists: Kassav' (Caribbean), Eyo'nlé (Benin), Richard Bona Quintet (Cameroon/USA), Electro Deluxe Big Band (France), Mama Shakers (France), and Spanish Brass (Spain), the patron of the edition. The orchestra Societat Unió Musical Santa Cecília de Guadassuar (Spain) completes this cosmopolitan program. Concerts take place indoors and outdoors, offering varied atmospheres.
The most emblematic moment of the Limoux Brass Festival is undoubtedly the Nuits des Fanfares. As night falls, the streets of Limoux ignite to the sound of brass bands parading through the town, drawing festival-goers into a high-energy atmosphere late into the night. It's a unique moment of communion between musicians and the public, in the purest tradition of street festivals in the Southwest. Brass bands from France and elsewhere compete in creativity and energy, making these nights an unforgettable memory for all participants.
Beyond the concerts, the Limoux Brass Festival is a place for transmission and education. Workshops are offered by professional musicians, allowing young instrumentalists to improve their skills and meet their peers. Youth orchestras participate in the program, offering a stage for tomorrow's talents. The festival village hosts these workshops as well as exhibitions and meetings, in a friendly atmosphere. The festival is supported by the Conservatoire de Musique de Limoux and the Limouxin Tourist Office.
