Short film festival for young audiences
The Little Films Festival is a national animation short film festival dedicated to very young audiences, held every summer in over 550 cinemas across France. In Langogne, the Cinéma René Raynal hosts the festival every Tuesday morning during the summer with screenings specially adapted for toddlers: adjusted sound, no trailers, and a tender and poetic program for a first encounter with the magic of cinema.
Created in 2019 by distributors Little KMBO, Cinéma Public Films, Gebeka Films, and Les Films du Préau, the Little Films Festival is the first national film festival entirely dedicated to very young audiences. Every summer, it offers a selection of animated short films in over 550 cinemas across France, designed to accompany the youngest children in their discovery of the seventh art.
The festival was born from a simple observation: toddlers deserve a film program designed for them, with reception conditions adapted to their sensitivity. Far from the noise of blockbusters and the hustle and bustle of large theaters, the Little Films Festival offers a space of gentleness and wonder where children can experience their first spectator emotions.
In Langogne, the Cinéma René Raynal participates in the Little Films Festival by offering screenings every Tuesday at 10:30 AM during the summer holidays. This municipal cinema, located on the banks of the Langouyrou, pays special attention to welcoming young children: the sound is adjusted so as not to frighten sensitive ears, and no trailers are shown before the film, to preserve the gentle and reassuring atmosphere of the screening.
These specific conditions make the Cinéma René Raynal an ideal place for families wishing to introduce their children to the pleasure of cinema in a caring and protected environment.
Each edition of the Little Films Festival program offers a selection of eight short films, some of which are in exclusive preview. The films, from the best of international animation, tell tender, funny, and poetic stories suitable for children from 2 years old. Various animation techniques are used—cartoons, stop-motion, claymation, cutout animation—which spark the curiosity and stimulate the imagination of the little ones.
The festival screens recognized and award-winning works from international animation festivals, offering young spectators an entry point to quality, artistic, and independent cinema.
In Lozère, the Little Films Festival is part of the summer cultural offerings for families. It's an opportunity for parents and grandparents to share a special moment with the children, in the cool of a cinema on summer mornings. The short format of the films (programs of 30 to 45 minutes) is perfectly adapted to the attention span of toddlers, allowing them to have a complete and satisfying experience.
