The major craft beer event in Lyon
Since 2016, the Lyon Bière Festival has brought together the best craft brewers from France and Europe each spring at the Double Mixte in Villeurbanne. Over two days, around a hundred breweries offer hundreds of craft beers to taste, accompanied by food trucks, concerts, and entertainment. A must-attend event for hop and character beer lovers in the Lyon metropolitan area.
Created in 2016 and organized by Craft Beer Event, the association Welovecraft, and the agency Tintamarre (part of the Unagi group / Le Petit Bulletin), the Lyon Bière Festival has established itself as the premier event dedicated to craft beer in the Lyon metropolitan area. Every year in April, the Double Mixte in Villeurbanne hosts craft beer enthusiasts for a weekend of tastings, meetings with brewers, and hoppy discoveries.
Each edition brings together approximately 100 craft breweries, with 25% from Europe (Belgium, Germany, England, Italy, Spain). The selection highlights the diversity and quality of craft production: IPA, stout, sour, lager, wheat beers, barrel-aged beers, and experimental creations. Visitors can interact directly with brewers, understand their production processes, and discover rare styles.
The festival is not limited to tasting. The Beer & Mix area features DJ sets and concerts to accompany tastings in a festive atmosphere. Carefully selected food trucks offer quality catering designed to pair with beers: burgers, world cuisine, cheeses, and charcuterie.
Each edition explores specific brewing themes. The 2025 edition highlighted alcohol-free or low-alcohol beers and barrel-aged beers. The 2026 edition, titled "Malt Attacks!", promises new taste surprises. The festival also offers an Unplugged space, more intimate, for guided tastings and exclusive meetings with brewers.
The Lyon Bière Festival promotes responsible consumption and showcases the artisanal know-how of independent brewers. The event contributes to the dynamism of the craft beer scene in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, one of the most dynamic in France.
The 9th edition of the Lyon Bière Festival, titled "Malt Attacks!", will be held on April 24th and 25th, 2026, at the Double Mixte in Villeurbanne. This special edition promises new brewing surprises with around a hundred craft breweries.
