Gourmet and festive evenings with local producers in the heart of Figeac
Every summer, the Marchés Nocturnes de Figeac take over Place Vival and Place Barthal for gourmet and convivial evenings. From 6 PM to 11 PM, local producers and artisans offer the treasures of the Lot region: foie gras, duck breasts, confits, aligot, sausages, Rocamadour AOC cheeses, fouaces, crêpes, and Cahors wine. Organized by the association Les Marchés Nocturnes de Figeac since 2017, these free summer events take place on several Thursdays in July and August, in a musical and family-friendly atmosphere, at the foot of the medieval facades of this historic Quercy town.
The Marchés Nocturnes de Figeac have become a must-attend summer event in the Lot. On several Thursday evenings in July and August, Place Vival and Place Barthal, in the heart of Figeac's historic center, transform into a true open-air gourmet village. From 6 PM to 11 PM, local producers and artisans welcome visitors in a warm and festive atmosphere, under the shade of the remarkable medieval facades of this town classified as a City of Art and History.
The night market highlights the exceptional richness of Lot gastronomy. The stalls are filled with carefully selected local products:
Visitors create their own meal platters by browsing from stall to stall, before settling at the outdoor tables to enjoy their finds in a summer guinguette atmosphere.
Each evening is enlivened by music groups that set the rhythm of the market with varied sounds: bandas, acoustic ensembles, world music, or popular songs. The musical entertainment, accessible to all audiences, contributes to creating a joyful and relaxed atmosphere that is the charm of these summer evenings. Families, locals, and vacationers mingle in a conviviality that characterizes the Quercy art of living.
Organized by the association Les Marchés Nocturnes de Figeac, created in December 2016, these markets perpetuate a tradition of sharing and promoting local products. The choice of Place Vival, where the Hôtel de la Monnaie stands – one of the finest examples of medieval civil architecture in Quercy – anchors the event in the remarkable heritage of Figeac, the birthplace of Jean-François Champollion.
More than just a market, the Marchés Nocturnes de Figeac are a true popular festival that brings together about twenty local producers and artisans, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the best of Lot gastronomy in an exceptional historical setting. Admission is free; only the products consumed are paid for, making the event accessible to everyone.
Figeac is a town steeped in history, nestled in the Célé Valley, a tributary of the Lot. The night markets contribute to the tourist animation of the town and help visitors discover the richness of the heritage and gastronomy of Quercy.
The night markets are held on Place Vival and Place Barthal, right in the heart of Figeac's historic center.
