Marmande Flower and Strawberry Festival

An event rooted in the Lot-et-Garonne terroir

Since the late 1980s, the Marmande Flower and Strawberry Festival has celebrated the agricultural riches of Lot-et-Garonne every third weekend in May. This event, both economic and festive, highlights two emblematic productions of the region: flowers and strawberries, the king fruit of the Marmande terroir. Over the years, it has become the Flower and Flavors Festival, this free event attracts thousands of visitors each year to the Esplanade de Maré, on Rue de la République and Rue Labat.

An exceptional flower market

The heart of the festival beats around a large flower and plant exhibition-sale bringing together about fifty professionals. Visitors can discover and purchase:

• Ornamental and flowering plants of all varieties
• Aromatic plants for the garden and cooking
• Old and rare varieties, true botanical treasures
• Shrubs and collector plants

The Esplanade de Maré transforms into a true ocean of colors where each stand competes in beauty. A competition also rewards the most beautiful floral stand among the exhibitors.

Strawberries in the spotlight

Local strawberry producers have a prime spot in this event. Several stands offer different varieties of strawberries grown in the Lot-et-Garonne terroir, renowned for the quality of its fruits. A most beautiful strawberry contest livens up the morning, and the traditional cutting of the giant tart is one of the highlights of the festival, bringing together young and old around this collective delicacy.

Entertainment and shows for everyone

The Flower and Strawberry Festival offers a rich program of entertainment:

• Parades of flowered stilt walkers through the streets of the town center
• Brass band concerts and fanfares for a festive atmosphere
• Culinary and pastry demonstrations highlighting local products
• Creative workshops for children: face painting, pot decoration, planting
• Flower-decorated bicycle and scooter contests in the town center
• Balloon sculptures and street entertainment

Craftsmanship and gastronomy

Art artisans exhibit and sell their creations, while stands for wine tasting and food offer local specialties. A producers' market allows you to discover the flavors of the region: jams, honey, cheeses, and artisanal charcuterie.

A family-friendly and accessible event

Completely free, the Flower and Strawberry Festival is accessible to everyone and offers facilities for people with reduced mobility. Young volunteers circulate with wheelbarrows to help visitors transport their purchases. The event takes place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm, offering the opportunity to fully enjoy all the entertainment and browse the stands.
