About Marsatac

Marsatac is an independent and responsible festival created in 1999 in Marseille, initially dedicated to the Marseilles hip-hop scene before opening up to electro, rap, pop, dancehall, and African, Caribbean, and Mediterranean music. Every year in June, the festival takes over Parc Borély for three days and three nights of concerts, bringing together emerging artists and headliners under the slogan «Day and Night». Supported by the Orane association, Marsatac champions an eclectic and audacious program centered around urban cultures.

From the Marseilles hip-hop scene to musical eclecticism

Born in 1999 at the heart of the Marseilles hip-hop scene, Marsatac first established itself as the unmissable event for rap and urban cultures in the Phocaean city. Over the editions, the festival gradually expanded its program to include electro, rock, pop, dancehall, and African, Caribbean, and Mediterranean music, becoming one of the most eclectic and audacious festivals in the south of France.

Parc Borély, a Mediterranean setting

Every year in June, Marsatac sets up camp at Parc Borély, one of Marseille's most beautiful green spaces, located in the 8th arrondissement by the sea. The exceptional setting of the park, with its French gardens, water features, and pine forests, offers an ideal backdrop for this open-air festival that is experienced «day and night». Three stages (Le Château, Le Virage, and Le Calage) simultaneously host artists over three days of intensive programming.

An independent and responsible festival

Supported by the Orane association, Marsatac asserts its independence and commitment to social and environmental responsibility. The festival has developed the Safer initiative, a program to combat gender-based and sexual violence in festive environments. Reduced rates are offered to RSA beneficiaries, job seekers, and people with disabilities (with a free accompanying person). Marsatac is also a player in the emerging music scene in the south of France through Marsatac Agency, a booking, production, and artist support structure.

Twenty-eight years of music in Marseille

Since its creation, Marsatac has hosted internationally renowned artists as well as emerging talents on its stages. The 28th edition will be held from June 12th to 14th, 2026, at Parc Borély, true to the festival's DNA: discovery, eclecticism, and conviviality.
