A medieval festival in the heart of the Valley of the Painters
The Médiévale de Crozant transforms the village of Crozant into a true Middle Ages setting every summer. At the foot of the imposing medieval fortress, on the Place de Chopeline and the rue Armand Guillaumin, knights, troubadours, artisans, innkeepers, and merchants take over the place for a day of medieval festivities. Created over 25 years ago by Robert Carlier, a passionate local resident, the event was born from a simple shared meal before becoming a major event in Creuse.
Reenactments, Fights, and Shows
The Médiévale program offers rich and varied historical reenactments: knight fights, pantomimes, medieval dances and music, equestrian shows, and jousts. Visitors can try their hand at archery, participate in treasure hunts, and discover ancient games. Children and adults will find suitable activities in a festive and immersive atmosphere.
Artisan Market and Medieval Flavors
An artisan market brings together local producers and artisans offering medieval-inspired creations. Medieval catering allows visitors to taste dishes from yesteryear in a tavern atmosphere. The exceptional setting of the Crozant fortress, overlooking the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers, offers a breathtaking panorama that adds to the magic of the event. More than 2,000 visitors participate each year in this festival, which mobilizes many volunteers.
