The contemporary music festival of Saint-Affrique by the Sorgues river
The Mesclazik Festival was born in 2023 in Saint-Affrique, in the south of Aveyron, from the municipality's desire to create a festive and musical summer event at the La Gravière Leisure Nature Base. Following the success of a concert by Claudio Capéo the previous year at the same location, the city decided to structure a real festival, named Mesclazik – a name that combines the Occitan 'mescla' (to mix) and 'musique' (music), perfectly summarizing the event's philosophy.
The festival takes place at the La Gravière Leisure Nature Base, an outdoor space located by the Sorgues river, which flows through Saint-Affrique. This green and friendly setting, between beach and meadow, offers an ideal natural backdrop for open-air concerts, with a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere that contrasts with large urban stages.
True to its name, Mesclazik offers an eclectic program mixing national headliners, emerging artists, and local talents. The first edition (2023) hosted Les Trois Cafés Gourmands, the second (2024) featured Mouss & Hakim and Les Négresses Vertes with the group Sangria Gratuite, and the third (2025) programmed Cali and Flavia Coelho. Each edition includes a music competition for local bands, complemented by a DJ set.
Mesclazik stands out for its intentionally welcoming spirit and its human-sized dimension. The festival offers a free opening evening on Friday night, making the event accessible to as many people as possible. On Saturday evening, the headliners take the stage in a festive and warm atmosphere, where residents of Saint-Affrique and the South-Aveyron region gather.
2026 edition postponed to 2027. The City of Saint-Affrique announced in January 2026 the pausing of the Mesclazik Festival for the year 2026, due to unprecedented regional competition on the dates of July 10 and 11. A free concert is organized on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the public garden to tide over until the 2027 edition.
The City of Saint-Affrique, organizer of the Mesclazik Festival, announced in January 2026 the pausing of the 2026 edition in its usual format. This decision comes in an exceptional context: the organizers of the Pause Guitare festival (Albi, less than an hour from Saint-Affrique) have moved their anniversary edition to the dates traditionally occupied by Mesclazik, July 10 and 11, 2026.
Despite exploring several avenues (date modification, reinvention of the formula, alternative scenarios, analysis of artist availability), strong regional competition — notably the Festivada in Rodez — made a 2026 edition that met the expectations of the public and partners impossible.
To maintain the connection with the public, a free concert is organized on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the public garden, to offer a great popular celebration on the eve of July 14, while awaiting the 2027 edition of the festival. The cultural department is already working on future cultural formats, faithful to Mesclazik's DNA.
The Mesclazik Festival will not take place in its usual form in 2026: the edition is postponed to 2027 (see details above). A free concert is nevertheless planned for Monday, July 13, 2026, at the public garden of Saint-Affrique.
The festival takes place at the La Gravière Leisure Nature Base, rue des Noisetiers, 12400 Saint-Affrique. The site is accessible on foot from the town center (approx. 15 min).
