A Classical Music Festival in Haute-Dordogne
The Millesources & Dordogne Festival is a classical music festival created over 25 years ago, which takes place every summer in Haute-Dordogne, in several towns in Corrèze and neighboring departments. The name "Millesources" refers to the Millevaches plateau, a region of springs and rivers from which the Dordogne originates. This traveling festival offers concerts of classical music, jazz, world music, and contemporary creations in the region's churches and heritage sites.
From Classical to Contemporary, from Tango to Gypsy
The programming of the Millesources & Dordogne Festival is resolutely eclectic, exploring classical music in all its forms. The 2024 edition offered a musical journey "from classical to contemporary, from tango to gypsy, with inspirations from Asia or the Maghreb". The festival hosts baroque music ensembles, chamber orchestras, soloists, jazz groups, world music bands... This diversity allows it to reach a wide audience and introduce varied repertoires.
Concerts in Churches and Heritage Sites
The concerts of the Millesources Festival mainly take place in the churches of the towns of Haute-Dordogne, offering a quality acoustic and heritage setting. In Ussel, the festival kicked off in 2024 with an opening at the restaurant "Côté Lac" at 5:30 PM, followed by a concert at 9 PM in the church with Brassisim'O. Other concerts took place in Neuvic, Saint-Martin-la-Méanne, and many other towns in the area, creating a true summer musical tour.
A Traveling Festival in the Heart of Rural Territory
The traveling nature of the Millesources & Dordogne Festival is at the heart of its identity: it irrigates the rural territory of Haute-Dordogne, bringing live music to towns sometimes far from major cultural centers. This cultural touring approach reaches a loyal local audience and enhances the built heritage of the villages. The festival thus contributes to the cultural dynamism of the territory and social cohesion among residents.
Friendly Atmosphere and Meetings with Artists
Beyond the concerts, the Millesources & Dordogne Festival cultivates a friendly atmosphere with opportunities for meetings between artists and the public, moments of conviviality around meals or friendly drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere conducive to exchanges. The festival also offers theatrical performances, dance shows, and film screenings, enriching the summer cultural offerings of Haute-Dordogne.
