A showcase for art craftsmanship in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Les Arts en l'Île is an ephemeral art craftsmanship gallery set up every summer on the Île de Vassivière. Supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, and the Center for Art Crafts of Limousin, this initiative highlights the richness and diversity of regional artisanal know-how in an exceptional natural setting.
Thirty exceptional artisans
Each edition hosts about thirty carefully selected art craftsmen, who exhibit and sell their creations: leather goods, ceramics, wooden objects, wool items, and many other noble materials. Visitors can discover remarkable artisanal creations, chat with the artisans, and learn more about their techniques and creative process.
A natural setting for art
The Île de Vassivière, located between Creuse and Haute-Vienne in the heart of the lake, offers an idyllic setting for this celebration of creativity and artisanal authenticity. In partnership with the Syndicat de l'Île de Vassivière and the tourist office, Les Arts en l'Île combines culture, craftsmanship, and nature, inviting visitors for an artistic stroll through the stands and landscapes.
Arts en l'Île — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Les Arts en l'Île takes place from Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, September 13, 2026 on Île de Vassivière. For three months, about thirty art artisans from Nouvelle-Aquitaine exhibit and sell their creations with free access.
An ephemeral art craft gallery open all summer 2026
From June 13 to September 13, 2026, Île de Vassivière hosts the new edition of Les Arts en l'Île, an ephemeral summer gallery supported by the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Pôle des Métiers d'Art du Limousin, in partnership with the Centre International d'Art et du Paysage, the Syndicat and the Office de Tourisme du Lac de Vassivière.
About thirty art artisans from Nouvelle-Aquitaine
About thirty rigorously selected art artisans present their original creations throughout the duration of the gallery. On the program: leather, ceramics, wood, mosaic, glass, metal, art embroidery and wool, but also jewelry, lighting, stained glass, porcelain, sculptures, paper, enameled copper and crochet. The gallery is conceived as a place for meeting and transmission: visitors can interact directly with the artisans, discover their backgrounds, their techniques and their passion.
In the heart of Lac de Vassivière
Located in an exceptional natural setting, Île de Vassivière offers an ideal showcase for this celebration of regional art crafts. The stroll naturally extends with the discovery of the Centre International d'Art et du Paysage, the Bois de sculptures, the Renaissance castle and the island's gardens.
