About Montauban Vintage Festival

The Montauban Vintage Festival is a unique event in Tarn-et-Garonne celebrating the world of the 1900s-1980s: rockabilly, swing, rock'n'roll, charleston and soul set the rhythm for two days of festivities in the historic district of Villebourbon in Montauban. Vintage vehicles, period costumes, artists and pin-ups mingle for a total immersion in the golden age of French vintage.

Montauban Vintage Festival: A Journey Through the Golden Decades

Organized by the Comité Montauban Événements Brocantes (CMEB82), the Montauban Vintage Festival is the premier gathering for fans of vintage style and culture in Tarn-et-Garonne. Located in the Villebourbon district, one of Montauban's most beautiful historic areas on the banks of the Tarn, the festival transforms the streets and squares into a time machine each spring, heading back to the decades of 1900-1980.

The event happily combines two inseparable aspects of the vintage movement: music — rockabilly, swing, rock'n'roll, charleston, soul, and rhythm'n'blues — and automotive culture, with an exceptional gathering of meticulously restored vintage vehicles, from hot rods to American classics, as well as prestigious sedans and collectible motorcycles.

A Musical Program from the Rock'n'Roll Era

The stages of the Montauban Vintage Festival resonate with the sounds that revolutionized popular music in the 20th century. Rockabilly enthusiasts will find the characteristic tremolo guitar riffs and slapped double basses of the genre, a direct legacy of tutelary figures like Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, and Gene Vincent.

Swing and charleston are also prominently featured, led by orchestras and DJ sets that invite the public to (re)discover the social dances of the 1920s-1940s. Couples in period attire fill the improvised dance floors, offering a lively and participatory spectacle that is as much a part of the event as the concerts themselves.

Soul and rhythm'n'blues complete the lineup, celebrating the African-American heritage that shaped global popular music. Artists and bands specializing in these genres, from the French and international scene, deliver sets of infectious authenticity and warmth.

The Vintage Vehicle Gathering: A Living Exhibition

The other spectacular dimension of the Montauban Vintage Festival is its vintage vehicle gathering, spanning nearly a century of automotive history — from the custom-bodied cars of the 1910s-1920s to the icons of popular automotive design from the 1970s-1980s. Collectible motorcycles, sidecars, customized American vans, prestigious convertibles: the spectacle is complete.

Owners, often dressed in period costumes matching their vehicles, enthusiastically share the history of their machines and the secrets of their restorations. This human and educational aspect transforms the gathering into a true living museum accessible to all.

An Exceptional Historic Setting: Villebourbon

The choice of the Villebourbon district to host the festival is no accident. This riverside district of the Tarn, characterized by its pink brick architecture typical of Montauban, offers a historically rich setting perfectly suited to the vintage spirit. Its narrow streets, squares, and riverbanks provide a naturally beautiful backdrop for photographs, strolls in period costumes, and encounters among enthusiasts.

Montauban Vintage Festival — edition 2026

The Montauban Vintage Festival 2026 took place on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026, in the Villebourbon district, around Place Lalaque, in Montauban. Under the slogan « Ça Monte En Bas » (It Goes Up Down), this free edition celebrated vintage culture from the 1900s-1980s: rockabilly, swing, rock'n'roll, concerts and DJ sets, vintage vehicle gathering, retro dance demonstrations, fashion shows, and pin-up contests.

Montauban Vintage Festival 2026 — « Ça Monte En Bas »

Organized by the CMEB (Comité Montauban Événements Brocantes), the 2026 edition of the Montauban Vintage Festival took place on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 9 AM to 7 PM, in the historic Villebourbon district and on Place Lalaque, by the Tarn river. Admission and all activities were free of charge.

Retro music and dance

The stages resonated with the emblematic sounds of the 20th century: rockabilly, swing, rock'n'roll, soul, and oldies concerts and DJ sets. The public could attend demonstrations and learn period dances — rock, lindy hop, twist, country, charleston — with a 'bal musette' to extend the celebration.

Vintage vehicle gathering

The festival brought together an exhibition of old vehicles: collector cars, motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, bicycles, and tractors, presented by their owners, often in period attire. An old carousel completed the site's retro atmosphere.

Fashion, flea market, and entertainment

Retro fashion shows (outfits from the 1930s to 1980s), pin-up and costume contests, a vintage village and flea market for collector's items, family areas, and on-site catering (Café Bourbon, Buffet L'Estanquet) punctuated these two days in the Villebourbon district.
