First street art festival in Centre-Val de Loire
The Murs de Loire Festival is the first street art festival in the Centre-Val de Loire region, transforming Tours and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps into a true open-air museum. Created in 2025 by the association Le Mur Tours, this festival invites local, national, and international artists to create monumental frescoes on the emblematic facades, bridges, and walls of the territory. With the theme 'The Loire, between heritage and biodiversity', the festival offers a week of live creations, performances, workshops, exhibitions, and meetings, providing an artistic route accessible on foot or by bike along the riverbanks.
Born in 2025, the Murs de Loire Festival is the first street art festival in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Supported by the association Le Mur Tours, it transforms the cities of Tours and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps into a vast open-air urban art gallery for a week. Local, national, and international artists take over emblematic facades, bridges, and walls of the territory to create monumental frescoes covering over 1,500 m².
The first edition of the festival chose the theme 'The Loire, between heritage and biodiversity', inviting artists to explore the link between the river, its ecosystem, and the inhabitants of the region. The 17 selected artists created 12 monumental frescoes on various sites: the A10 highway bridge at the Quai de la Loire, the René-Despouy gymnasium, the roundabout on Rue de l'Éridence in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, the Victor Hugo school, the municipal stadium of Île Aucard, the university footbridge, the Passage du Pèlerin near the Tour Charlemagne, as well as facades in the Halles district in Tours.
The festival offers an artistic route accessible on foot or by bike, inviting residents and visitors to rediscover their city through the lens of urban art. This route connects the various works created live during the week, offering a new perspective on urban landscapes and the banks of the Loire. The frescoes, created in view of the public, transform walls into true open-air living spectacles.
Beyond the mural creations, the Murs de Loire Festival offers throughout the week artistic performances, mediation workshops, exhibitions, screenings, and meetings with artists. The closing evening, organized at the Guinguette de Tours, brings the public together for live painting, urban dance, and DJ sets, in a festive and popular atmosphere.
The Murs de Loire Festival follows the success of the Hôtel Colors project, an urban art project that had already transformed a building in Tours into a work of art. The frescoes created during the festival are intended to endure in the urban landscape, constituting a contemporary artistic heritage accessible to all, all year round. The festival aims to make Tours and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps a benchmark destination for street art in France.
The second edition of the Murs de Loire Festival is expected in July 2026 in Tours and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. The festival will continue to offer live creation of monumental frescoes, workshops, performances, and artistic meetings around urban art.
The Murs de Loire Festival will return in July 2026 for a second edition. The program and theme will be announced in spring 2026 on the festival's official website.
The festival takes place in the cities of Tours and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. The frescoes are accessible on foot or by bike along a marked route. Public transport from the Fil Bleu network serves all sites.
Access to the frescoes and the route is completely free. Workshops and some activities may require prior registration.
The closing evening is held at the Guinguette de Tours with free admission. Detailed program on the festival's website.
