Free concerts, parade, and stages throughout the city on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Aurillac celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, conservatory students, and local bands freely take over the squares and streets of the city center. Organized by the City of Aurillac, the day is entirely free and blends all styles, from ancient music to rock, from blues to hip-hop, with a grand musical parade in the evening.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the prefecture of Cantal into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from the first concerts in the afternoon until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences.
The City of Aurillac sets up several stages in the central squares — Place d'Aurinques, Place Saint-Géraud, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, square and bandstand — complemented by concerts from the conservatory, music schools, and bars and restaurants that participate on their terraces. A musical parade crosses the city in the evening, starting from the bandstand, connecting the various lively squares.
Genres coexist without hierarchy: ancient and classical music at the conservatory and Notre-Dame church, blues rock, pop rock, French chanson, hip-hop, and festive music on the central stages.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Aurillac takes place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge throughout the city center. Several stages enliven the central squares, complemented by concerts from the conservatory and bars, with a grand musical parade in the evening starting from the bandstand.
