Every June 21, Croix celebrates the Fête de la Musique: music school students, amateur musicians, and local bands play for free in the city's streets, parks, and squares. Organized by the City of Croix, in the Lille metropolitan area, the day is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Croix
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Croix, in the European metropolis of Lille, into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from afternoon until evening, in all genres and for all audiences.
A celebration at the heart of the city
Usually, the festival unfolds in several locations in Croix: an open-air musical stroll at the Jardins Mallet-Stevens, led by students from the municipal conservatory, and a convivial stage at Place de la Liberté, in the Saint-Pierre district, animated by the neighborhood committee with concerts and family entertainment. Bars, restaurants, and associations extend the celebration throughout the evening.
