Music Festival in Nancy — edition 2026
Nancy celebrates the 45th edition of the Fête de la Musique on Sunday, June 21, 2026, with free events all over the city. The official kick-off is at 6:00 PM, and every street takes on its own vibe: soul on Avenue Foch, disco on Rue de la Citadelle, electro and French pop on Grande Rue, Caribbean rhythms on Rue de la République, batucada at Place Saint-Epvre, and gospel at Place Maginot. The University Symphony Orchestra gets things started in the afternoon at the Pépinière auditorium, while L'Autre Canal-L'Octroi and the Palais terrace host their own free stages. Musicians will be performing in squares and streets until 1:00 AM.

The official kick-off is at 6:00 PM throughout the city center. Musicians will perform in squares and streets until 1:00 AM, at which point all music must stop; bars may remain open until 2:00 AM.

The Palais, in co-production with Cœur Bavard, is setting up an open-air mini-festival on its terrace from 6:00 PM to midnight.

Good to know
- Nancy's guinguettes will remain open until midnight.
- The "La Belle Saison" sound and light show will not be projected at Place Stanislas on June 21 to avoid competing with events organized by local merchants in the square and surrounding streets.

Practical Information
- When: Sunday, June 21st, 2026. Official kickoff at 6:00 PM; musicians play until 1:00 AM (music must stop strictly at this time), with bars allowed to remain open until 2:00 AM. Several events take place starting Saturday, June 20th (Botanical Garden, Regional Conservatory, Opera).
- Where: Throughout the city — Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière, Grande Rue, Rue Saint-Jean, Place Saint-Epvre, Cours Léopold, Old Town, Parc de la Pépinière, Parc Sainte-Marie, Place Maginot, Place Charles III, and the L'Autre Canal-L'Octroi site.
- Price: Free admission.
- Traffic and Parking: The event perimeter is completely closed to vehicles starting at 6:00 PM; parking is prohibited from 8:00 AM, and access to the Vaudémont, Stanislas, and Place de la Carrière parking garages is closed from 6:00 AM.
- Transport: Public transport is free for the evening.
- Safety: The sale of takeaway alcohol on the street is prohibited, though consumption remains permitted on terraces; two first-aid stations are set up at City Hall and Place de la Carrière.
- Parks: Music stops around 11:00 PM at Parc de la Pépinière (closing at midnight) and around 9:30 PM at Parc Sainte-Marie (closing at 10:30 PM).
Fête de la Musique in Nancy
As is the case all over France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns Nancy into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music takes over public spaces for free, from mid-afternoon until late at night, offering every genre for every audience. For this 45th edition, the city is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to the historic center and various districts.
A celebration throughout the city center
The festivities spread across the city's iconic landmarks: Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière, Grande Rue, Rue Saint-Jean, Place Saint-Epvre, and Cours Léopold, along with the picturesque alleys of the Old Town and its hidden courtyards. Open-air stages host concerts and performances, while amateur musicians pop up spontaneously all over the ducal city.
A unique vibe for every neighborhood
Every street has its own musical flavor: a symphony orchestra at the Pépinière auditorium, electro and French pop on Grande Rue, soul on Avenue Foch, disco on Rue de la Citadelle, Caribbean music on Rue de la République, batucada at Place Saint-Epvre, and gospel at Place Maginot. The parks join in the fun, from Parc Sainte-Marie to Parc de la Pépinière, and local guinguettes stay open until midnight.
Venues join the party
L'Autre Canal is opening the Halle Ouverte at its L'Octroi site to five Meurthe-et-Moselle projects selected by a jury, with free admission. Meanwhile, Le Palais is hosting a free mini-festival on its outdoor terrace, co-produced with Cœur Bavard. Several events even kick off the festivities as early as Saturday, June 20th, at the Botanical Garden, the Regional Conservatory of Grand Nancy, and the Opera.
