For the first evening of summer, Thonon-les-Bains becomes a huge open-air concert for the Fête de la Musique. From Place de l'Hôtel de Ville to Port de Rives, on the shores of Lac Léman, amateurs and professionals make the city vibrate with all styles, from rock to electronic music. Organized by the Ville de Thonon-les-Bains, the festival is entirely free.
The Fête de la Musique in Thonon-les-Bains
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Thonon-les-Bains into an open-air stage to celebrate the first day of summer. Between Lac Léman and the mountains, amateur musicians, music school students, and professional artists share the public space for free, offering a wide variety of styles: rock, pop, jazz, world music, choirs, Afro-Brazilian percussion, and DJ sets.
A festival spread throughout the city
The city utilizes its squares and cultural venues for the occasion. Pop-rock stages are set up on Place de l'Hôtel de Ville and the forecourt of the Maison des Arts, while Port de Rives hosts jazz and contemporary music workshops from the École de Musique et de Danse de Thonon. The Théâtre de Verdure, Place des Arts, and Pôle culturel de la Visitation complete the setup, not to mention the many performances offered by partner bars and restaurants.
The celebration continues with a stage dedicated to electronic music, set up in the Cour des Provisions of the Pôle culturel de la Visitation and organized by the association Les Jeudis Électro in partnership with the City.

Port de Rives — Jazz and Contemporary Music
By the lake, the Thonon School of Music and Dance hosts jazz and contemporary music workshops, with open stages for students and musicians.
Théâtre de Verdure, Place des Arts and Pôle culturel de la Visitation
Concerts, choirs, Afro-Brazilian percussion, and musical entertainment are spread across these venues, complemented by performances from partner bars and restaurants in the city center.
Cour des Provisions of the Pôle culturel de la Visitation — Electronic Stage (Sunday, June 21, 5 PM-11 PM)
Electronic music evening presented by the association Les Jeudis Électro, in partnership with the City: PAKKO & SARAYA (afro-house, electro / Geneva), TGØS (disco-house, tech-house / Thonon), DAKE (house, electro / Thonon) and ALØNE (house, tech-house / Thonon), with a live painting performance by the PIGMENT association.

Price: free admission.
Access: the funicular connecting the upper town to Port de Rives is free from 5 PM to 11 PM. Free ear protection is available near the stages.
