International choral singing festival bringing together choirs from around the world
Nancy Voix du Monde is the international choral singing festival of Nancy, one of the most important choral events in France. Created in 1979 by a dedicated association, this biennial festival brings together choirs from around the world every two years in the Lorraine capital for several days of concerts, meetings, and musical sharing.
Since its creation, Nancy Voix du Monde has hosted over 260 choirs from 63 countries. Each edition invites a selection of international choral groups representing a great diversity of musical traditions, from African polyphonies to European symphonic choirs, as well as vocal ensembles from Asia and the Americas.
One of the festival's unique features is its homestay program. Invited choristers are hosted by families from Lorraine choirs, creating deep and lasting human connections. This dimension of exchange and fraternity is at the heart of Nancy Voix du Monde's identity.
Concerts take place in the most prestigious venues in Nancy:
The founding values of Nancy Voix du Monde are music, song, fraternity, exchanges, meetings, and friendship. The festival transcends cultural and linguistic borders to celebrate the human voice as a universal vehicle for emotion and communion.
Nancy Voix du Monde contributes to the international reach of Nancy by attracting choristers and music lovers from all continents. The festival benefits from the support of local authorities and institutional partners, demonstrating its importance in the cultural landscape of Lorraine and France.
From May 14 to 17, 2026, under the title « Les Saisons du Festival », Nancy Voix du Monde offered a condensed edition of 7 concerts distributed between Nancy, Lunéville, Laxou and Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson. Four international groups invited (Ensemble adVocem from Warsaw, Jadwiga Czerwińska Academic Choir from Lublin, Deutsch-Französischer Chor from Dresden, children's choir Les Marmousets from Fribourg) sang alongside the Lorraine choirs, with the closing creation Mademoiselle Moselle at Salle Poirel.
For its 2026 event, Nancy Voix du Monde adopted the format « Les Saisons du Festival »: a condensed weekend of 7 concerts from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17, 2026, around Ascension Day, spread between Nancy, Lunéville, Laxou and Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson. Six concerts were free (voluntary contribution), the closing concert Mademoiselle Moselle at Salle Poirel required a ticket.
As in every edition, the foreign choristers were hosted by families by the Lorraine choirs of the Voix du Monde network — a cornerstone of the festival since 1979.
Highlight of the edition, the creation Mademoiselle Moselle was performed on Sunday, May 17 at 4 PM at Salle Poirel. Poetic, vocal and instrumental work by composer Romain Didier and author Gil Chovet, it offers a sensitive journey along the Moselle, evoking the tangible and intangible heritage of Lorraine. About eighty choristers from the Grand Est region shared the stage with professional musicians: choral direction Annick Hoerner-Pignot, piano Valérie Mendoza, violin Emilien Hu.
