Nature at the heart of Déols

Every year in May, the town of Déols participates in the Nature Festival, a national event offering thousands of free activities to help the public reconnect with nature. In Déols, the Écoparc des Chènevières, a sensitive natural area on the banks of the Indre river, serves as the setting for this day of discovery.

A remarkable eco-park

The Écoparc des Chènevières is a natural site of great ecological value, comprising wet meadows, woodlands, and wetlands along the Indre river. Classified as a sensitive natural area, it is home to remarkable biodiversity with numerous species of birds, insects, and plants characteristic of the wetland environments of Berry. The site is managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels Centre-Val de Loire in partnership with the municipality of Déols.

Activities for everyone

The Nature Festival in Déols offers a varied program of free activities: guided walks to discover the fauna and flora of the wet meadows, nature workshops for children, bird song sessions with ornithologists, stands from environmental and biodiversity conservation associations. Visitors can be guided as families or friends for half a day by those who know and preserve the treasures of this sensitive natural area.

A commitment to the environment

Déols' participation in the Nature Festival is part of the environmental policy of the municipality and Châteauroux Métropole. The event is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the richness of local biodiversity and the challenges of its preservation, in a natural setting accessible to all, just a few minutes from the center of Châteauroux.
