Ô les Beaux Jours Festival: Open-air culture at Château du Plessis
Every summer in July, the Château du Plessis and its park in La Riche, a town bordering Tours, host the Ô les Beaux Jours Festival. Supported by the cultural hub Le Plessis, this multidisciplinary open-air festival offers a rich and varied program for three weeks, accessible to all audiences.
A Renaissance Castle Serving Culture
The Château du Plessis, a former royal residence linked to the history of the Kings of France, has become a cultural hub managed by a team committed to the democratization of culture. Its tree-lined park provides an ideal setting for open-air events, shaded by large trees and overlooking historic gardens. It is in this setting that the festival unfolds its stages, cinema screens, and workshop spaces.
An Eclectic and Multidisciplinary Program
The Ô les Beaux Jours Festival blends genres and disciplines in a spirit of discovery and sharing:
- Music: concerts of folk, flamenco, classical music, electro, modular synthesizers, and sound performances
- Dance: flamenco shows, dance workshops, and choreographic creations
- Theater and Storytelling: street performances, theatrical processions, clown performances, stories, and readings
- Cinema: open-air screenings of animated films and contemporary cinema, free access
- Visual Arts: exhibitions, art installations, visual art collages, and live visual performances
- Workshops: paper making, sound art, creative workshops for children and adults
The Electronic Isles (Îlots Électroniques)
A highlight at the end of the festival, the Îlots Électroniques offer an evening of open-air electronic music, free and open to all, featuring DJ sets and live performances in the castle park.
An Accessible and Solidarity Festival
True to its accessibility approach, the festival offers solidarity pricing at three levels: solidarity rate (€5), shared rate (€8), and support rate (€14), allowing everyone to contribute according to their means. Children under 10 enter for free. Open-air cinema screenings and electronic music nights are free.
A Festival at the Heart of the Tours Metropolis
La Riche, a municipality in the Tours metropolis, benefits from a dynamic cultural life driven by committed associative actors. The Ô les Beaux Jours Festival contributes to the summer animation of the area and the enhancement of the Château du Plessis heritage, while offering a friendly and popular cultural alternative to major urban festivals.
