Orgelet Cité en Fête: two days of festivities in the heart of the Jura

Orgelet Cité en Fête was born in 2016 for the 750th anniversary of the charter granted to the town by the Count of Chalon. What was intended to be a one-time celebration has become a highly anticipated annual event for the residents of Orgelet and the surrounding towns, held every year on August 14th and 15th.

A festive and eclectic program

Over two days, Orgelet Cité en Fête offers a varied program accessible to all. Concerts liven up the evenings in the town squares, while street shows and aerial circus surprise passers-by in the alleys of this medieval town. Popular balls invite young and old to dance under the stars.

The August 15th fireworks display

The highlight of the festival, the fireworks display illuminates the sky of Orgelet and offers a spectacular show above the town. This moment of sharing brings together hundreds of spectators from all over the region.

A town of character celebrating

Orgelet, labeled "Petite Cité Comtoise de Caractère" (Small Town of Character in Franche-Comté), offers a remarkable heritage setting for this festive event. The medieval alleys, the shaded squares, and the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church form a natural backdrop that enhances the shows and entertainment. The festival takes over several town squares, notably the Place au Vin and the Place du Bourg Merlia.

Food and conviviality

Food and drink stalls are set up in the town squares to accompany the festivities. Local products and Jura specialties are featured, contributing to the friendly atmosphere of the event.
