About Oursinade de Sète
The Oursinade de Sète, better known as the Oursinade de Thau, is a major gourmet and maritime festival of the Thau lagoon. Every year at the end of winter, the city center of Sète (Hérault, Occitanie) hosts the tasting of sea urchins, shellfish, and fish accompanied by Thau wines, in a friendly atmosphere enlivened by concerts. An unmissable event for Sète's gastronomy.
The Oursinade de Thau in Sète
The Oursinade de Thau (sometimes called Oursinade de Sète) is the great sea urchin festival of the Thau lagoon, organized every year in the heart of Sète, in Hérault. It celebrates the gastronomic, maritime, and wine-growing riches of the region and is one of the most anticipated gourmet events in the city.
A tasting of seafood products
On the program: tasting of sea urchins, shellfish, and fish, true treasures of the Mediterranean, accompanied by wines from the Thau lagoon and regional specialties offered by some forty producers and exhibitors set up in the city center. During a previous edition, the event gathered more than 7,000 visitors and nearly 5,000 dozens of sea urchins were consumed.
A friendly and musical festival
Beyond the table, the Oursinade de Thau is a popular festival punctuated by concerts and musical entertainment, notably with penas and brass bands that roam the streets and squares of Sète's center. Access is free; only tastings are paid (ticket sales on site).
Oursinade de Sète — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Oursinade de Sète (Oursinade de Thau) will be held on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2026 in the heart of Sète. Two days of tasting sea urchins, shellfish, and fish accompanied by Thau wines, amidst concerts and street entertainment. Free admission.
Oursinade de Thau 2026 — March 27 and 28
The 2026 edition of the Oursinade de Sète (Oursinade de Thau) will take place on Friday, March 27 (from 6 PM to 11 PM) and Saturday, March 28, 2026 (from 10 AM to 9 PM), right in the city center : place Léon Blum (opposite the town hall), parvis des Halles, rue de Strasbourg and rue Gambetta.
Tastings and local products
About forty producers and exhibitors offer tastings of sea urchins, shellfish, and fish, accompanied by wines from the Thau basin and regional specialties. Access is free ; tastings are purchased with tickets on site.
Musical entertainment
The festival is enlivened by concerts and brass bands that animate the streets and squares of Sète's city center throughout both days.

Location
Sète city center (34200), Hérault : place Léon Blum (opposite the town hall), parvis des Halles, rue de Strasbourg and rue Gambetta.
Access
Get to Sète by road (A9 then A709) or by train (Sète station). Parking available around the city center ; prefer central car parks and walking, as the event area is pedestrianized.
Prices
Free entry. Paid tastings : 2.50 € per tasting (2 € with the SAM'PASS card) or 6 € for three tastings (5 € with the SAM'PASS card), commemorative glass included.
