Penn Ar BD: Comics and Vinyl Meet in Quimper

Since 2012, Penn Ar BD has established itself as the unmissable event for comics in Cornouaille. This unique fair combines two passions: comics and vinyl records, bringing together authors, publishers, record dealers, and enthusiasts under one roof in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

A Fair in the Heart of Quimper

The fair is held annually at the Parc des Expositions de Penvillers, a vast space that accommodates author stands, exhibitions of original artwork, vinyl record bins, and activities. About fifty comic book authors participate in signing sessions and meet-and-greets, while record dealers from all over Western France offer vinyl treasures for collectors and music lovers.

The Breton BD Prize

Penn Ar BD has created the Breton BD Prize, an award that annually recognizes a work that highlights Brittany, its history, its culture, or its landscapes through the medium of comics. This prize contributes to the recognition of regional comic production and encourages authors to engage with Breton themes.

Activities for All Ages

The fair offers a varied program of activities: themed exhibitions showcasing original artwork, conferences on the world of comics, drawing workshops for children, and the P'tit Dessinateur competition that allows young talents to express themselves. Penn Ar BD also hosts speakers for discussions on societal issues through the lens of comics.

A Community and Accessible Event

Supported by the Penn Ar BD association, the fair relies on the commitment of passionate volunteers. With very modest entrance fees and free admission for children under 13, the event is part of a cultural accessibility initiative. Throughout the year, the association also organizes traveling exhibitions and events related to comics in the Quimper urban area.
