International festival dedicated to emerging cinematic creation
Perspectives — Montluçon International Film Festival (MIFF) is a new international film festival dedicated to emerging cinematic creation. Its first edition was held in January 2026 at the Le Palace cinema in Montluçon, Allier. The festival competes bold and innovative films, without restriction of genre or nationality, and also offers retrospective sections dedicated to cinema from the 1990s to 2010s.
Born in January 2026, Perspectives — Montluçon International Film Festival (MIFF) is an international film festival that immediately establishes itself as a space for cinematic discovery and boldness. Located in the heart of Montluçon, the second-largest city in the Allier, the festival aims to highlight emerging cinematic creation by welcoming innovative films from France and around the world.
The competitive section, the heart of the festival, brings together about ten films — features and shorts — selected for their originality, narrative boldness, and artistic quality. No restrictions on genre or nationality: fiction, documentary, animation, fantasy, experimental — all cinematic formats and approaches are welcome. The festival stands out for its absence of submission fees, thus opening its doors to independent and emerging filmmakers worldwide.
The Audience Award recognizes the film most acclaimed by viewers, making the audience the true jury of the competition. This participatory philosophy places the viewer at the center of the festival experience.
In addition to the competition, the festival offers two retrospective sections dedicated to cinema produced between the 1990s and 2010s. These programs allow for the (re)discovery of significant works, forging links between generations of filmmakers, and enriching the dialogue between past creation and contemporary emergence.
The festival takes place at Le Palace cinema, a cinematic institution in Montluçon located in the city center, on Boulevard de Courtais. Equipped with five rooms with Dolby digital sound and 3D projection, Le Palace offers optimal technical conditions for discovering the films in competition. This Art House cinema, rooted in Montluçon's cultural life, is the ideal setting for a festival focused on discovery and innovation.
By establishing itself in Montluçon, Perspectives affirms the cultural vitality of the Allier and the ambition to promote emerging cinema from a region seeking renewal. The festival aspires to become a must-attend event for cinephiles and professionals, a meeting place for filmmakers, audiences, and cultures, in the heart of Auvergne.
The 2nd edition of Perspectives — Montluçon International Film Festival is expected in January 2027 at the Le Palace cinema. Building on the success of its first edition, the festival will continue its mission of highlighting international emerging cinematic creation.
