A festival to make children dream in Brittany

Since 1997, the Place aux Mômes festival has been illuminating summer holidays for families on the Breton coast. Supported by the Sensation Bretagne network, which brings together about thirty exceptional seaside resorts, this unique festival offers free live performances for young audiences in each partner town. From early July to late August, each resort hosts one show per week, offering children and their parents moments of artistic discovery and family sharing.

Seven companies, seven weeks of magic

Each summer, seven professional companies are selected to tour the resorts of the Sensation Bretagne network for seven weeks. The program is varied and of professional quality: theater, circus, street arts, magic, puppetry, dance, singing, and clowning follow one another for the greatest delight of spectators of all ages. The shows, suitable for children aged 5 and up, are designed to be accessible and captivating, creating lasting memories for young and old alike.

Finistère at the heart of the festival

Finistère plays an important role in the Place aux Mômes network, with many participating towns along the coast: Locquirec, Plougasnou, Carantec, Roscoff, Plouescat, Plouguerneau, Landéda, Audierne, Fouesnant-les Glénan, and Névez-Port Manec'h. In Brest, shows are held every Friday at 6 p.m. from mid-July to late August, offering Brest families a weekly outdoor cultural event. Each town chooses an emblematic location to host the performances: village squares, public gardens, seafronts, or green spaces.

Free admission as a commitment

The fundamental commitment of Place aux Mômes is the complete freeness of all shows. This policy, supported by the partner towns and the Sensation Bretagne network, reflects a strong desire to make culture accessible to all, regardless of means. For many families on vacation in Brittany, Place aux Mômes has become an unmissable event, a special time when young and old share the wonder of live performance together, with their feet in the sand or on the grass of a village square.

28 years serving young audiences

In 2025, Place aux Mômes celebrates its 28th edition, a testament to the longevity and success of this unique concept. Over the years, the festival has hosted hundreds of companies and introduced tens of thousands of children to live performance. This longevity is based on a virtuous economic model, a strong partnership between the towns and the Sensation Bretagne network, and above all, on the ever-renewed enthusiasm of families who, every summer, find their way back to the Place aux Mômes shows.
