This popular festival, organized around August 10th, features music and entertainment on Saturday, and on Sunday, a solemn tribute to sailors lost at sea, followed by tastings of regional products, dances, and fireworks on the quays.
Port du Chapus en Fête celebrates the maritime identity of Bourcefranc-le-Chapus, a commune home to the leading oyster port in the Marennes-Oléron basin. Organized by the Festival Committee and CSMMM (a maritime association), this popular event highlights the oyster-farming culture and maritime traditions that shape the life of the port.
Every year around August 10th, the port comes alive for a festive weekend. Saturday evening resonates with music and entertainment in a warm atmosphere. On Sunday, the day begins with a solemn procession of sailors and an open-air mass paying tribute to sailors lost at sea. This is followed by tastings of regional products, popular dances, and fireworks illuminating the port waters and celebrating maritime life.
