Quartiers d'Été: two months of celebration in all the neighborhoods of Oloron
For over fifteen years, Quartiers d'Été has enlivened the city of Oloron-Sainte-Marie throughout the summer season. This multidisciplinary and free festival, supported by the municipality, aims to offer all residents and visitors a quality cultural, sporting, and festive program, spread across the different neighborhoods of the city.
A festival spread throughout the city
The originality of Quartiers d'Été lies in its decentralized nature: events are not concentrated in one place but take over all the neighborhoods of Oloron-Sainte-Marie. Squares, gardens, riverbanks, religious and civil heritage sites, sports areas – each neighborhood hosts activities in turn, creating a festive dynamic that permeates the entire city.
A rich and varied program
Each summer, Quartiers d'Été offers more than sixty highlights organized around multiple disciplines: concerts of contemporary, classical, and traditional music, theater and dance performances, open-air cinema, guided heritage tours, guinguettes and afterworks, gourmet markets showcasing local producers, game days, sports activities, and contemporary art exhibitions.
Iconic highlights
Among the most anticipated events of Quartiers d'Été are the Oloron Jazz Festival, the Organ Festival at Sainte-Marie Cathedral, the Bastille Day celebration on July 14th with fireworks, the Saint-Jean bonfire, popular dances, and open-air concerts in the city's public gardens.
Free and accessible
Almost all Quartiers d'Été activities are free, in line with the municipality's commitment to promoting access to culture for everyone. This free policy contributes to the festival's popular and intergenerational character, bringing together families, young people, seniors, and visitors in a friendly atmosphere.
A tool for regional development
Beyond its festive dimension, Quartiers d'Été is an important lever for the development of the Oloron region. The festival contributes to the city's tourist appeal, supports the local economy – restaurateurs, merchants, producers – and strengthens social cohesion between neighborhoods.
