The Quiksilver & Roxy Junior Pro is one of the most prestigious events on the European junior qualifying circuit (European Junior Qualifying Series) organized by the World Surf League. For several years, Santocha beach in Capbreton has hosted this event, bringing together 64 boys and 32 girls under 21, from all over Europe, to qualify for the world finals.
La Santocha is one of the most consistent spots on the Landes coast, renowned for the quality and power of its waves. The Santocha Capbreton Surf Club, founded in 1975, is a true institution of French surfing that naturally hosts this international competition. The exceptional oceanic conditions of this coastline offer an ideal playground for young competitors battling it out in spectacular elimination rounds.
Beyond the sporting competition, the Quiksilver & Roxy Junior Pro is a true celebration of surf culture. The event features film screenings, open-air concerts, surf lessons for beginners, environmental activities raising awareness about coastal protection, and meet-and-greets with athletes. Santocha beach transforms into a festive village for three days, bringing together surf enthusiasts, families, and the curious.
The Quiksilver & Roxy Junior Pro has seen many talents pass through who later shone on the WSL professional circuit. The competition is a true springboard for the new generation of European surfing, offering international visibility to young athletes. Winners earn valuable points in the European junior rankings, essential for accessing the WSL world finals.
The event benefits from the support of the Santocha Capbreton Surf Club and the city of Capbreton, and is part of the tradition of Landes Atlantique Sud as a prime surfing destination. Miky Picon, former professional surfer and Quiksilver team coach, sponsors this competition and supports young talents throughout the event.
