About Raidlight Trail Festival

The Raidlight Trail Festival is a sporting and festive event dedicated to trail running, organized every year in May in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, in the heart of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park in Isère. Since its creation in 2013, this festival welcomes up to 1,800 runners across six race formats ranging from the 4 km Vertical Kilometer to the 46 km Maratour, with positive elevation gains of 800 to 2,600 meters. The event stands out for its friendly and family-oriented atmosphere, with a hiking version of the Festi'Trail open to all, allowing everyone to discover the spectacular landscapes of the Chartreuse between peaks and forests.

Raidlight Trail Festival: the trail running celebration in the heart of Chartreuse

The Raidlight Trail Festival is one of the major trail running events in Isère and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Every year in May, the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse welcomes up to 1,800 runners from all over France and Europe for a weekend of mountain races in the exceptional setting of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park.

Six race formats for all levels

The festival offers a varied range of races allowing everyone to find their challenge, from beginners to experienced trail runners:

  • Vertical Kilometer (KMV): 4 km with 900 m of positive elevation gain, an intense ascent on Friday evening (130 bibs max)
  • Festi'Trail: 17 km with 800 m D+, an ideal discovery course for a first trail experience (300 bibs max)
  • Festi'Rando: 17 km with 800 m D+, hiking version of the same course, open to all
  • Semi Trail: 24 km with 1,400 m D+, for intermediate runners (350 bibs max)
  • Sky Trail: 27 km with 2,000 m D+, an aerial race on the Chartreuse peaks (300 bibs max)
  • Trail Tour: 33 km with 2,000 m D+, a demanding course across the ridges (350 bibs max)
  • Maratour: 46 km with 2,600 m D+, the festival's flagship event, a true mountain marathon (350 bibs max)

An exceptional natural setting

The Raidlight Trail Festival courses wind through fir and spruce forests, alpine pastures, and limestone ridges of the Chartreuse massif. Runners evolve in a preserved environment, classified Natura 2000, between peaks culminating at over 2,000 meters and green valleys, offering breathtaking panoramas of the Alps, Mont Blanc, and the Belledonne range.

A festive and family-friendly spirit

Beyond the competition, the Raidlight Trail Festival stands out for its friendly and festive atmosphere. The start-finish village offers entertainment, a catering area, and an exhibitors' zone. The Festi'Rando offers a non-competitive alternative (10 €) to discover the trails by walking.

An event rooted in the territory

The festival is organized by Trail Nature Organisation and bears the name of Raidlight, an emblematic trail brand founded by Benoît Laval in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. The event benefits from the support of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park, the municipality, and local tourism and mountain sports stakeholders, contributing to the renown of Chartreuse as a leading trail destination.
