The trail festival in Chartreuse for all levels
The Raidlight Trail Festival is one of the major trail running events in Isère and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Every year in May, the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse welcomes up to 1,800 runners from all over France and Europe for a weekend of mountain races in the exceptional setting of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park.
The festival offers a varied range of races allowing everyone to find their challenge, from beginners to experienced trail runners:
The Raidlight Trail Festival courses wind through fir and spruce forests, alpine pastures, and limestone ridges of the Chartreuse massif. Runners evolve in a preserved environment, classified Natura 2000, between peaks culminating at over 2,000 meters and green valleys, offering breathtaking panoramas of the Alps, Mont Blanc, and the Belledonne range.
Beyond the competition, the Raidlight Trail Festival stands out for its friendly and festive atmosphere. The start-finish village offers entertainment, a catering area, and an exhibitors' zone. The Festi'Rando offers a non-competitive alternative (10 €) to discover the trails by walking.
The festival is organized by Trail Nature Organisation and bears the name of Raidlight, an emblematic trail brand founded by Benoît Laval in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. The event benefits from the support of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park, the municipality, and local tourism and mountain sports stakeholders, contributing to the renown of Chartreuse as a leading trail destination.
The 14th edition of the Raidlight Trail Festival took place from May 15 to 17, 2026, in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, in the heart of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park, with a quota of 1,800 bibs across all races.
The weekend program was structured around six race formats for all levels:
The children's races were canceled for this edition. The festival village, set up in front of the Raidlight-Vertical building, hosted a catering area, trail and mountain specialized exhibitors, and entertainment for the whole family.
Please note: children's races have been canceled for the 2026 edition.
The festival village is located in Bourg de Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, in the heart of the Chartreuse massif. Race starts and finishes take place in front of the Raidlight-Vertical building, with the exception of the KMV, which starts at the dairy (500 m below the village).
From Grenoble (25 km): take the D512 towards Col de Porte then Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. From Chambéry (35 km): take the D912 via Col du Granier. Free parking spaces are available near the festival village.
Bus connections are possible from Grenoble via the TransIsère line. Carpooling is strongly encouraged by the organization.
Bib collection takes place at the Salle des fêtes in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse:
Decreasing rate: first 50 bibs at a reduced price, then standard rate.
Overall quota: 1,800 bibs across all races. Online registration on the official platform.
Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse offers numerous accommodations: hotels, gîtes, bed and breakfasts, and campsites. It is recommended to book early, as the village is often fully booked during the festival weekend.
Each race requires mandatory equipment detailed in the regulations (minimum 1 L water reserve, survival blanket, whistle, cup, medical information sheet). Checks are carried out during bib collection.
