Rainbowrama — edition 2026
4th Edition - Five Committed Films
The 4th edition of Rainbowrama takes place from April 22 to 26, 2026, at the Grand Écran cinema in Vichy. The festival continues its growth with a selection of 5 feature films carefully chosen for their cinematic quality and the strength of their message.
2026 Selection
The program mixes documentary, fiction, and international perspectives on LGBTQIA+ realities: Egoist, a Japanese drama about love and sacrifice; La petite dernière, a coming-of-age story of a young woman from an orthodox Jewish family; Pédale rurale, a documentary about queer life in rural France; Queer, an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' novel by Luca Guadagnino; and Transmemoria, a poetic exploration of trans memory.
Each screening is accompanied by a participatory activity with the audience, true to the spirit of exchange and dialogue that has characterized the festival since its inception.

The first LGBTQIA+ festival in the Allier region
In 2023, the association Aux Mille Couleurs, committed to LGBT diversity and inclusion in the Allier region, and the Grand Écran cinema in Vichy took on a bold challenge: to create an LGBTQIA+ film festival in a spa town in central France. The gamble paid off. From its very first edition, from May 29 to June 4, 2023, Rainbowrama successfully brought together a curious and enthusiastic audience around 9 films dealing with themes related to LGBTQIA+ identities and journeys.
Committed and participatory cinema
Rainbowrama's uniqueness lies in its participatory approach. Each screening is followed or preceded by an activity with the audience: round tables on same-sex parenting, thematic quizzes combining LGBTQIA+ culture and sport, friendly aperitifs, and festive opening nights. The festival doesn't just show films; it creates a space for exchange, dialogue, and meeting in a region where such opportunities remain rare.
The association Aux Mille Couleurs, which works year-round for the visibility and rights of LGBTQIA+ people in the Allier region, finds in Rainbowrama a powerful cultural vehicle to raise public awareness and fight against discrimination.
A demanding program
Over the years, the festival has prioritized quality over quantity. After 9 films in its first edition, the program has been tightened to offer a more targeted selection of feature films, each chosen for its narrative strength and commitment. The 2026 edition, the 4th of its kind, offers 5 carefully selected films: Egoist, La petite dernière, Pédale rurale, Queer, and Transmemoria, accompanied by a thematic round table.
Strong local roots
By setting up at the Grand Écran cinema in Vichy, Rainbowrama benefits from a quality venue in the heart of the spa town. The partnership between the association and the cinema guarantees professional screening conditions and a warm welcome. The festival is part of Vichy's cultural landscape alongside other film events, bringing a new and necessary voice to the Allier department.
