France's biggest reggae festival in the heart of Médoc
Since its creation in 1998, the Reggae Sun Ska Festival has established itself as the unmissable event for reggae, dub, ska, and world music lovers in France. Located at the Domaine de Nodris in Vertheuil, in the Gironde Médoc region, the festival offers three days of rich and eclectic programming each summer on several open-air stages.
Each edition hosts over 45 artists from around the world. From reggae legends to new dub voices, including dancehall, ska, and African music, the lineup celebrates the full diversity of Jamaican music and its contemporary variations. Artists like MC Solaar, Mister Gang, Dub Inc, or Steel Pulse have graced its stages.
The Domaine de Nodris offers a unique green setting between Médoc vineyards and pine forests. Festival-goers can enjoy on-site camping, various food stalls, and shaded relaxation areas. The peaceful and friendly atmosphere is the festival's signature.
Reggae Sun Ska is actively committed to the environment with a selective sorting program, reusable cups, catering prioritizing short supply chains, and shuttles from Bordeaux to reduce the carbon footprint.
Special 2026 edition: "Le Plan B du SunSka", on May 29, 30 and 31, 2026 at Château Liouner in Listrac-Médoc (33). Having failed to obtain the necessary authorisations for the usual site, the organisation is reinventing the festival for one edition with a voluntarily reduced capacity: three days of reggae, dub and world concerts in a more intimate format, pending a strong return planned for 2027.
For 2026, the Reggae Sun Ska is reinventing itself under the name "Le Plan B du SunSka". The edition will be held on May 29, 30 and 31, 2026 in the courtyard and gardens of Château Liouner, route de Benon, in Listrac-Médoc (Gironde), about thirty kilometres from Bordeaux.
This change of venue and format follows the refusal of the commune of Cissac-Médoc to host the event, deemed to lack the necessary guarantees given the planned capacity. The Bosq family, hosts of Château Liouner, agreed to welcome the concerts to save the edition.
The festival therefore adopts an agile format with limited capacity, featuring two open-air stages, greater proximity to the artists, and catering provided by local producers as part of a solidarity initiative. The spirit remains faithful to that of SunSka: bringing together French reggae headliners, Jamaican roots veterans, and emerging talents from Médoc and Gironde. The organisation announces this "Plan B" as a parenthesis before a strong return of the festival in 2027.
