Over 30 years of passion for comics

Since 1991, the Rencontres de BD de Marly has been a must-attend event for comic book lovers in Moselle and throughout the Grand Est region. Organized by the Centre socioculturel La Louvière with the support of Metz Métropole, this festival has built a loyal following while welcoming new readers each year.

A weekend dedicated to the 9th art

Every first weekend of October, the NEC de Marly (Nouvel Espace Culturel) transforms into a temple of comic books. The program includes:

  • Themed exhibitions: each edition highlights a guest of honor or a comic book movement through exhibitions of original artwork and illustrations.
  • Signing sessions: dozens of authors and illustrators are present to meet their audience and sign their albums.
  • Conferences and round tables: in-depth discussions on comic book trends, screenwriting, or drawing techniques.
  • Comic book competitions: contests open to amateurs to discover new talents.

All genres of comic books

The Rencontres de Marly embrace the diversity of the 9th art:

  • Classic and contemporary Franco-Belgian comic books.
  • Manga and Japanese culture.
  • American Comics.
  • Children's albums to introduce the youngest to reading comics.

A guest of honor at each edition

Each year, the Rencontres honor a renowned author or illustrator with a dedicated exhibition and special opportunities to meet the public. Past guests include well-known names in French-language and international comics.

A cultural venue in the heart of Marly

The NEC de Marly, located on Avenue du Long Prey, offers a modern and functional space perfectly suited for hosting a comic book fair. Its layout allows for the combination of signing booths, exhibition areas, and conference rooms in one location.

Free and accessible

True to their mission of cultural sharing, the Rencontres de BD de Marly offer free admission, allowing all audiences—families, students, collectors, and the curious—to discover the richness of contemporary comic books.
