A festival dedicated to travel and adventure
Founded in 2016 by the association L'Écho des Voyageurs, the Retours du Monde festival is an unmissable annual event for lovers of travel, adventure, and documentary cinema. Nestled in the heart of the Châtelard leisure center in Pont-du-Fossé (municipality of Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas), in the Champsaur valley, the festival offers an exceptional natural setting between mountains and rivers to celebrate travel storytelling in all its forms.
Films that tell the world
The program is divided into three categories of films: short films, films for children and educational screenings, and feature films (52 or 90 minutes). All films presented are stories of lived travel and adventures, driven by an ethic of respect for the people encountered, their cultures and customs, with minimal impact on the environment and wildlife. The festival is open to both amateur filmmakers and professionals, encouraging a diversity of perspectives and stories.
Meetings, conferences, and activities
Beyond the screenings, Retours du Monde offers conferences, meetings with directors, activities, and moments of conviviality. The festival emphasizes the sharing of experiences and dialogue between travelers, filmmakers, and spectators. The 2025 edition celebrated the festival's 10th anniversary, marking a decade of discoveries and exchanges around responsible travel.
Strong territorial roots
Located in the Hautes-Alpes, between Champsaur and Valgaudemar, Retours du Monde contributes to the cultural animation of this mountainous region. The festival allows visitors to discover the natural and human heritage of the valley while opening up to the world through travelers' stories. The Festival Pass formula allows access to all screenings from Wednesday to Saturday, and the Pass Culture is accepted for reservations.
