Grand celebration of Roquefort AOP cheese in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in Aveyron
Roquefort en Fête is the grand celebration of Roquefort AOP cheese in its birthplace of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, at the foot of the Larzac plateau. Created in 2019 by the General Confederation of Sheep Milk Producers and Roquefort Industrialists, the festival offers a festive weekend combining gastronomic tastings, shows, producer markets, sheep parades, drone shows, and activities for the whole family. The 2025 edition celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Roquefort AOP with the participation of renowned chefs such as Nina Métayer, Michel Sarran, and Sébastien Bras, attracting over 20,000 visitors.
Roquefort en Fête celebrates the famous Roquefort AOP cheese every year in the village that gave it its name: Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, at the foot of the Combalou cliffs in southern Aveyron. Created in 2019 by the General Confederation of Sheep Milk Producers and Roquefort Industrialists, the festival highlights the cheese heritage, the know-how of the producers, and the identity of a unique territory.
The 2025 edition, the third of its name, was exceptional as it celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Roquefort Protected Designation of Origin, the first cheese PDO in France, recognized since 1925. Three renowned chefs — Nina Métayer, Michel Sarran, and Sébastien Bras — reinvented Roquefort through creative bites to be tasted in the festive village. The event attracted over 20,000 visitors.
The festival program combines producer markets, local artisan stands, a sheep parade through the village streets, culinary competitions, gourmet hikes on the Larzac plateau, and visits to Roquefort aging cellars. The evenings are enlivened by drone shows and pyro-symphonic shows illuminating the Roquefort-sur-Soulzon sky, offering a spectacular finale.
Roquefort-sur-Soulzon is nestled at the foot of the Combalou cliffs, whose natural fissures (the fleurines) allow Roquefort cheese to age in underground cellars. The village is at the heart of the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park, offering an exceptional landscape and heritage setting for festival visitors.
The 4th edition of Roquefort en Fête is expected in 2026 in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon. The festival should continue the celebration of Roquefort AOP cheese with tastings, markets, shows, and activities. Dates and program to be confirmed.
