Rouen sur Mer — edition 2026
Rouen sur Mer brings its sandy beach to the left bank of the Seine in Rouen from July 3rd to August 2nd, 2026, stretching between the Guillaume-le-Conquérant bridge and the prairie Saint-Sever. The site features a splash pad, pedal boats, mini-golf, trampolines, a climbing wall, and an adventure course, all free of charge. The daily program includes creative family workshops, sports initiations with local clubs, a wellness area, and free evening concerts every Friday and Saturday. This year, water sports take center stage with diving lessons at the Île Lacroix swimming pool from July 15th to 31st and kayaking sessions at the parc Camille-Claudel. Everything is free.
Rouen sur Mer 2026: A month of urban beach life by the Seine
From July 3rd to August 2nd, 2026, the City of Rouen is turning the quai Jean de Béthencourt into a pop-up seaside resort. The site is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with activities starting at 2:00 PM and facilities accessible daily. Admission and all activities are free.
Free-access facilities
A splash pad, pedal boats, mini-golf, ping-pong tables, pétanque courts, trampolines, an adventure course, a climbing wall, a toddler area, a reading and play tipi, and a dining area complement the sand and deckchairs.
A different workshop every day
The family program changes daily: tataki zomé, creating board games from recycled materials, sensory labs, mosaics, modern embroidery, watercolor, perfumery, basketry, organic cosmetics, upcycled jewelry, linocut, and more. On the first four Sundays, the La Roulotte Scarabée company will work with the public to create a stop-motion animated film themed around Rouen sur Mer. A wellness area offers seated massages, family massages, storytelling massages, reflexology, and yoga and Pilates sessions, available by signing up at the reception desk.
Sports with local clubs
Around thirty sports events will take place throughout the month with local clubs: tennis, archery, taekwondo, pétanque, athletics, MMA and martial arts, cheerleading, 3x3 basketball, football, baseball, tchoukball, chess, checkers, and Go. The French Volleyball Federation will host its "Sport Planète" beach tour from July 28th to 30th, with an open beach volleyball tournament on the 30th. The ASLT Loisirs club also offers disability-inclusive sports, including blind football on July 7th and torball on July 14th.
Evening concerts
On Friday and Saturday nights, the Village square hosts free concerts: soul and funk with Les Victorine's Band, electro-French chanson with Captain Spark, quirky musette with Da Rouen, "La French" DJ sets, roots reggae with Kinkéliba, a giant karaoke, a salsa dance with J Sugar Y Orquestra, and rockabilly with Hot Slap.
Water sports in the spotlight
From July 15th to 31st, diving initiations are available at the Île Lacroix swimming pool. At the parc Camille-Claudel, single and double kayaks are available to explore the Seine and its surroundings.
An event for everyone
From Tuesday to Friday, the ADEP association hosts activities tailored for seniors, isolated individuals, and people with disabilities, including board games, cards, dominoes, and social gatherings.

Since 2008, Rouen sur Mer has brought a breath of vacation to the Norman capital every summer. The initiative, supported by the City of Rouen, involves setting up a vast sandy beach on the lower quays of the left bank of the Seine, transforming the riverbanks into a friendly and festive summer living space, open to all and completely free.
An urban beach concept that has become a must
The Rouen sur Mer concept follows the trend of urban beaches developed by several major French cities. Rouen's unique feature is its exceptional location on the banks of the Seine, facing the panorama of the right bank quays and the iconic silhouette of the cathedral. The beach extends along Quai Jean de Béthencourt, between the Guillaume-le-Conquérant bridge and the Saint-Sever meadow, offering a vast relaxation area in the heart of the metropolis.

Sports and leisure
Every day, Rouen sur Mer offers a varied program of sports and recreational activities: beach volleyball, beach soccer, badminton, pétanque, taekwondo, zumba, tennis, water games, capture the flag, and adventure courses. Since 2025, each weekend is dedicated to a different sports theme, renewing the experience week after week.
Wellness and relaxation
A space dedicated to well-being hosts sessions for body awakening, relaxation, and massages. An ephemeral toy library allows families to enjoy board games and creative activities in the shade.
Festive evenings
On Friday and Saturday evenings, Rouen sur Mer transforms into a party venue with concerts, DJ sets, karaoke, salsa, and rock nights. These summer evenings by the Seine attract a large crowd and are highlights of the Rouen summer.
A free and accessible event
Access to Rouen sur Mer and all its activities is completely free, making it a particularly inclusive and popular event. The beach is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings for nighttime entertainment. Specific actions are carried out for the elderly and isolated audiences, reinforcing the social dimension of the event.
